My bad :((
Get used to misspeaking.. :winky: Your faux pas is only a prelude to what you’ll be getting from your team soon. :phehehe:

CSK needs to do something about its batting. Playing Anirudh at no.7 maybe ok if Albie was firing, but given Albie’s dodgy form and Anirudh’s sporadic hitting style, our lower middle order batting looks a bit suspect. I know we won against Pune the other day, but that was 2 consecutive games where the lower middle order failed to close out on reasonable starts. Against MI, we were 115/2 after 15, chasing 160. Most T20 teams would back themselves to win from that situation. Against Pune as well, we scored only 30 runs in the last 4 overs, despite having 6 wickets in hand. I am not sure when Dwayne Bravo is joining the team, but when that does that happen, they should seriously consider playing him in place in Randiv, or even Albie maybe. Dwayne could potentially have a ‘Kieron Pollard’ effect on CSK, lifting the overall standards of the team in every single department. But generally speaking, this is still a VERY good team. I still think CSK has the best overall batting strategies of any T20 team that I have ever seen, they still have the best captain, especially in pressure situations, in the world. They have by far the least amount of deadweights in the team, among all IPL teams. And most importantly, they have one of the best ground-fielding units in the entire tournament and that could make a HUGE difference, as we go deeper into the tournament. Come to think of it – Compared to last year, many of the vital cogs in the team have misfired so far and still we have either won or lost closely. Vijay still hasn’t played a single big innings, despite promising much. The most valuable batsmen in the team, Raina, hasn’t had a decent hit out, much like Dhoni. Albie’s batting has stuttered more often than not. The batting load so far has been exclusively carried by two of the most unlikeliest candidates – Badrinath and Hussey. Its time for the other big guns to warm up and start firing. And when that happens - and it will - look out everbody, LOOK OUT!
Yeah, need to do something about batting, esp. in the second half of the innings. We are very top heavy -- once Hussey, Vijay, Raina get out, we start losing steam. May be we should change the order. May be send Aniruddha to stabilize the innings at # 3 or even open the innings? By trial and error, I'm sure Dhoni will find the best combination before long. Usually Dhoni takes some time to form the core group, once he does, watch out every one. Dhoni's captainship is just like his batting -- consolidate first, gather strength slowly, finish strong.

We are very top heavy in that only Vijay, hussey and badri are scoring. What we need to do is shuffle the line up. Srikanth is the weakest link and if he is coming in at #7 with 2 overs to go, he will most probably fail to do much and a spot is wasted. Send him in to open with Vijay and let hussey come in at #3. Then Badri and Dhoni, depending on the situation. Raina needs to be dropped back to #6 or 7 because he has just been a walking wicket at #3 and our last over hitting has been bad. But dhoni, who ironically chases the ball in field setup and changes the field every time a 4 is hit, is the most stubborn captain when it comes to team selection. Its time abinav mukund and Yo mahesh are given a chance. He is not going to change. If vijay is injured, he will probably bring in jogi.

The last two long innings from Badri, quite blatantly outlined the failure of the top order.. And Badri did click.

If Aniruddha wasn't Srikanths son' date=' do you guys feel he would been picked by any other franchise?[/quote'] Don't know...But he is not only on the team, but on the playing XI. That is Dhoni/Coach. I don't think either one of them give a damn about Chikka. He played well on the first match, when he opened. Doesn't bat well at the tail. Either they should move him up the order or drop him from the team. That slot is going waste as of now.

Domestic First class 2010/11 stats Badri & Mukund are at no.1 and no.2 http://stats.espncricinfo.com/indiandomestic2010/engine/records/batting/most_runs_career.html?class=4;host=6;id=2010%2F11;type=season

I don't care if Dhoni's team goes to the ffinal or not. He won us the WC so will always be a HERO :)
Word. It's impossible for a team to reach finals every year. But you can count on his team to compete every match, giving their best.

Vijay when he started his first class career was slower than Badrinath. Look at him now. So i think they should give an opportunity to Mukund regardless of how he played domestic T20.

If Aniruddha wasn't Srikanths son' date=' do you guys feel he would been picked by any other franchise?[/quote'] Most Probably. He opens for TN in One dayers with Vijay and plays in late order for South zone and has a decent average and good SR. He would have easily made the squad of CSK or other teams in IPL 1 along with the likes of the bigger names Vijay, Badri, KKD,Balaji and lesser knowns like Suresh kumar, Arun karthik, Ganapathy, Abinav mukund, Yo mahesh etc. Pretty much every one who plays for TN and South zone are in one IPL team or the other. So i dont see why not. The reason he got a chance was because he was the most attacking batsman in the squad (from the lesser knowns) back in IPL 1 (Before Murali vijay and Abinav mukund) and Dhoni stubbornness has kept him in the side so far. It is sad that Abinav mukund, the next big batsman for India is not even in the selection picture for CSK. I know Sreekanth had a good innings in the 1st game, but Mukund has to be bought in.
