Asim Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Islamabad, April 22 (IANS) Prominent Pakistani television, stage and film actor Moin Akhtar, best known to audiences in the subcontinent for his role in comedy play 'Bakra Qiston Pe', died in Karachi Friday. Akhtar, 61, was undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for heart disease, Geo TV reported. A versatile performer from Karachi, Akhtar made his TV debut Sep 6, 1966 in a show on state-run Pakistan TV (PTV) on the first defence day of Pakistan. Since then, he had performed numerous roles in TV shows. Akhtar was one of the most sought after actors in the Pakistani entertainment industry. He was fluent in several languages, including English, Bengali, Sindhi, Punjabi, Pushto, Gujarati and others. He also had a huge fan following in India due to 'Bakra Qiston Pe' opposite Pakistani comedian Umar Sharif in which they impersonated several sub-continental actors like Dilip Kumar, Shashi Kapoor and Raj Kumar. ============================= He was easily my most favorite Pakistani artist ever... A true one man show... Legendry artist of Pakistani television, film and stage, great comedian, best impersonator I ever seen, awesome host, writer, director and besides his all professional versatility he truly was a great great human being. I am not sure how many of you might even know him because I feel people in Ind have a better exposure with Omer Sharif only... Moin started his career in 1966 and without any doubt he was one rare artist who have each moment of his professional life as a "peak" point because of his perfection and commitment with the his roles he did. Unfortunately I cant see his most of great work uploaded on net, may be people start uploading it now from old archives but here are just few clips you might feel interesting, most of them from a show "loose talk" where in this show alone he appeared in 400+ characters with equally ultimate perfection. "Moin Akhtar" actually... I remember so many times during any cricket match, Pakistani radio/TV commentators and even we people used to call Moin Khan as Moin Akhtar by mistake... But really it was such a sad and shocking news that nobody believed or to be honest nobody here was mentally ready to accept this news. He was one rare person in today's world for whom anybody can find any reason to not like him, he was truly living in our hearts and will always live.
