With regards to hotels, there are quite a few choices, but one particular chain (Premier Inn) is quite a decent place with a numerous sites in and around London. Whats your budget?

I am guessing NJ (sandeep) is looking for more local and on the ground information - I am pretty sure he is aware of things called trip planners available on the net.
Sooda Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Yeah 'Junkie- Premier Inn as Jadoo pointed out, or Travelodge of which there will be several in London and are both relatively cheap. The 'central' Inn/travelodge will be near most major sites. Google both and have a look. Sometimes they helpfully put distances from the hotel to tourist attraction sites so you have an idea of how far it might be. Also London is easy to get around by underground so even ones a bit further out can be considered as they might be cheaper.... Budget for those will be roughly £50 a night Im guessing...might be wrong...

Also London is easy to get around by underground so even ones a bit further out can be considered as they might be cheaper.... I got the same advice from a couple of people, but having a hard time deciding which area further out is better, and how much further out is acceptable - for sake of example - is wembley, hounslow too far? is earl's court neighborhood worth the extra 30-40 pounds a night from a convenience perspective? etc. I see a comfort inn in vauxhall for 75 pounds or so - how is that location? A colleague at work suggested i try Bed and Breakfast type places in "zone 4" - i'm researching those right now... Any specific recommendations would be helpful - This is a solo trip, so i dont mind 'roughing it' a bit... Thanks again for taking the time, your advice is much appreciated... Btw, How is married life treating you soooooooda? and how's your brother doing? :)

But tbh, if youre not staying for long then dont live too far, and stay nearish to save time on travelling. I mean you dont want to spend an hour or whatever each day on the tube. Cannot comment on specific areas without looking at a London Map though hehe..perhaps Jadoo is from London and can help more...staying in a B & B is a good option too. I am not sure you will find B and Bs especially close to tourist sites(cant say I know exacytl where Zone 4 is but Im guessing it is not very near toi central London) Im good NJ man :) Married life da aweomez. Recommend it highly. Zagid is well too. If you want to feel at home visit Ahmedabad, UK (a.k.a Leicester, home to all things Gujju :D )

Btw, How is married life treating you soooooooda? and how's your brother doing? :) Honestly mate I wouldn't really advice B&B's in London, as any half decent one will probably cost you relatively the same a decent hotel like Pemier Inn or Travelodge. With regards to location, I wouldn't advice looking at staying in Hounslow it's too far out from Central London. Vauxhall is a decent location with the City and West End being on the other side of the river it will be quite convenient. Wembley is also good as well, only a few stops away from being in th the heart of the West End and considering you're coming here by yourself you might prefer seeing a few browne faces around. What days have you got tickets for?

Cricket Tragic Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 It's pretty easy to get to from any place on the tube but I suggest that you stay pretty central. The tube can be a ***** on weekends. I'd suggest staying around Kensington. Have a look at Holiday Inn in King's Cross. Further north but not a problem to get around. They do excellent deals. £150 rooms often cost £50. It's quite popular amongst Indians. The tube station is about 5 mins away and you also have places to eat close by. I wouldn't suggest a B&B in London. There are some excellent deals around which will cost you pretty much the same or sometimes less. If you're looking for smaller places (not a big hotel), there are some nice places in Bayswater. Excellent location (5 mins from Laxmi Mittal's house). The rooms will be as good as the other places but they're not part of a huge chain.
