South Africa v Australia cut to two Tests

Ridiculous. All other forms of cricket should be making sacrifices so that Tests can remain the pinnacle of the sport, not the other way round!!

Can you imagine a future 'test tour' with one test match being played? Anyway, I am convinced that T20 is a fad and will die out in the longer run so decent sized test tours will come back I think.
sadly not. Its the ICC's biggest money spinner and there's no way ICC is going to discourage it. In fact methinks it will be now used to attract newer audiences to the game in countries where cricket is not popular. Its shameful but its the reality

This shows how T20 has already started hurting Tests. IPL, CLt20, now other leagues popping up like Sri Lanka and Australia wants their Big Bash just as popular. I wonder how the cricket landscape will be in 10 years. Makes me kind of appreciate county cricket in England more and more.

I have to admit that a lot of my gora and gori friends are fast picking up interest in the T20 format of cricket. They can't stand test and ODI matches at all. No matter how hard I try to make them change their opinion, they don't listen. Their biggest problem with ODI and Tests are that they find them way too long. I have a feeling that ICC is going to use T20 format to attract audiences in countries where cricket is not popular. The other formats will not work at all.

T20 is not going anywhere. Its the most commercially viable form of cricket right now. The number of International T20s that teams play are anyway very less, with the exception of the world championship.

No, it isn't.

Right now, there is a big time problem between boards , players and ICC making money making money and ICC's commitment to FTP. Boards(top 4) and Players make money by playing in/organizing Champions league and IPL. Boards make money by hosting bilateral series with India. ICC makes money by India playing in ICC tournaments every year. Other, less important boards like binlandenistan and Sristupidistan makes money by playing agianst the top 4( Inida, Aus, Eng, SA). You cannot appease everyone and fulfill their criteria in 1 year. hence the 2 test series. ICC needs to get less greedy and less controlling.

No' date=' it isn't.[/quote'] Which other form of cricket attracts more eyeballs than T20? Not including the high profile encounter like knockout stages of tournaments. T20 is not going anywhere. But it might cannibalize ODIs more than tests IMO

+ I get a bit tired of 'we need to spread cricket to countries xyz' cries. All these people try to 'spread' cricket thinking that the countries will someday play with the regular teams but of course ignoring the simple fact that countries dont play cricket, people do. And so I rant back to the whole nation based cricket thing again. :wall: :wall:

Why not play tests 20 overs at a time? Have teams alternate every 20 overs and call it 20x20. This way it can be marketed as a series of T20s played over 4x5=20 sessions. :woot:
