saneindian Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Saw him take a tumble in the field during today's match and the injury looked quite bad. I hope he hasn't hurt his knee badly or hasn't torn any muscle and recovers quickly and in time fot the WI tour.
Zelig Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Looks like a ligament tear..might take some time to heal.
vvvslaxman Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Good luck to his recovery. But we got cover in kohli. Infact i rather want him ahead of Pujara.
IKnowU Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 ligament tear = minimum 6-9 months if you it to properly heal + surgery
vvvslaxman Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 ligament tear = minimum 6-9 months if you it to properly heal + surgery Too bad. He hardly had any role to play in this IPL as well.
rajmarie Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Feel bad for Pujara. Dont want this injury to ruin his Indian team spot. He was very good in facing the SA fast bowlers on their bouncy wicket. Infact...I will like Pujara, Badri, Kohli in Indian Test Team soon. They can do very good. In bowlers....will like Ashwin & Rahul Sharma. Hoping Pujara recovers quickly though..& is fit for WI Tests...or Eng Test series.
daryl1985 Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 ligament tear = minimum 6-9 months if you it to properly heal + surgery Has it been confirmed? :(( I have a feeling Pujara will be my favourite Indian batsman of the next 10-12 years.
ganeshran Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 He suffered an injury to his left knee 2 years back too in the IPL :(( There are doubts being raised on the quality of outfield in Chinnaswamy stadium http://www.mid-day.com/sports/2011/may/090511-Cheteshwar-Pujara-Kochi-Tuskers-Kerala-Royal-Challengers-Bangalore.htm Pujara's injury puts lens on Chinnaswamy outfield Cheteshwar Pujara's injury while making a slide-stop at the boundary during the Royal Challengers Bangalore's tie against Kochi Tuskers Kerala raised eyebrows about the bumpy outfield at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here yesterday. The incident occurred in the fifth over when Brendon McCullum drove Chris Gayle through extra cover. Tillakaratne Dilshan made an unsuccessful diving attempt and in the process hurt his knee. Pujara, who sprinted to the fence, also hurt his knee as he went down for a slide. The crowd was stunned into silence as the giant screen showed the youngster writhing in agony. Immediately, the stretcher came out and Pujara's anxious teammates ran towards him. Fortunately, Pujara was able to get back on his feet, which evoked a huge roar from the Bangalore crowd. He was escorted to the dressing room and the match resumed. Over the years, the Chinnaswamy Stadium has been thoroughly appreciated for its lush green outfield, but Pujara's injury has raised some doubts. Bangalore fans are among the best in the country and the pitch here has more often than not been sporting, but such a bumpy outfield makes it dangerous for the fielders. Former South Australia batsman and TV commentator Mike Haysman said that the incident must be scrutinised, one way or another. "If it's not the bumpy outfield that caused his injury, then it's poor fielding technique. One way or the other, the wise heads of the game must look into the incident," he told MiD DAY. "Pujara is an exciting talent, a promising young batsman. It's not a good sight to see a stretcher on a cricket field. "The long off boundary doesn't have an even covering of grass. It's got a bald look towards it and that means the fielders have to make an extra effort to dive. You can see white patches all around the ground, an indication that it's not evenly covered with grass," added Haysman.
Ram Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 I had a sinking feeling when i saw that happen. :(( He's one of our standout middle order batsmen of the future. We need him, badly!
Sir_Afridi Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Ferguson had a similar injury in CL t20 tamasha and he was out for almost a year.
vvvslaxman Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Ferguson had a similar injury in CL t20 tamasha and he was out for almost a year. Carrying an injury into a tournament is onething getting an injury during tournament is different thing. You can get injured while playing sheffield shield also or backyard cricket also. Just because he played champions league doesn't mean he will have more chances of getting injured. you guys sent Sohaib Malik, Imran Nazir. to play rubber cricket in Hongkong sixes.. can it be anymore tamasha that that.
IKnowU Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 They still havent done a MRI scan to show if any damage has been done unfeckingbelievable...........:headshake: How can you treat a injury that looked so serious with ice and a general xray? Its been a weeks or so since he injured and still no MRI :banghead:
Ultimate_Game Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 MRI will be done tomorrow or later this week. Mallaya & son make millions out of IPL and can't get one of their players MRI scanned for a week after the injury. Says a lot about the franchise and its management. I wish BCCI steps in when a player is injured (be it any player - intl, u 19, Ranji player etc.) as IPL is technically sponsored by BCCI and they should ensure the players are fine.
saneindian Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 Pujara's father fears another injury lay-off http://sports.ndtv.com/ipl/news/item/173287-pujaras-father-fears-another-injury-lay-off Cheteshwar Pujara's father hopes his son won't endure the same injury frustration like in 2009 IPL Arvind Pujara hasn't seen his son since Cheteshwar injured his knee while attempting to save a boundary for the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday. Cheteshwar Pujara is currently hospitalised at Dr Mallya Hospital in Bangalore, with National Cricket Academy (NCA) physios monitoring his progress. The rest of the team have travelled to Jaipur for their match against Rajasthan Royals. Cheteshwar was ruled out of competitive cricket for six months when he injured his left knee during a practice tie for Kolkata Knight Riders during the 2009 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in South Africa. His father is praying that the ghost of 2009 doesn't return to haunt his son just as he was starting to establish his place in India's Test XI ahead of the tours of West Indies and England. "In 2009, he had to undergo an operation on his ligament after injuring his left knee. That kept him out of action for six to eight months. We are praying that this isn't that severe," the father told MiD DAY from Rajkot. "That year (in 2009), he was in great form, cracking triple hundreds for his state side. The timing of the injury was wrong. Hopefully, this time he'll recover soon." Pujara said that the medical reports of his son's injury hadn't arrived yet. "We will know the exact state of the injury only after 48 hours because when it's an internal injury, it's hard to tell the extent without an MRI scan," he said. "I am very confident that things will be fine as the best in the business are taking care of him. "I have heard that his swelling is not that bad, so that's a good sign. However, it's too early to say anything at this stage. We can only pray." It is learnt that Pujara spoke to Yuvraj Singh on Sunday as the latter had also suffered a knee injury last year. Pujara was told that his son's injury was different from the one suffered by the Pune Warriors captain, and that the road to recovery would depend on a lot of factors. It is also learnt that Pujara junior would require a surgery, and could be ruled out for at least three to four months. :(( ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So looks like Pujara is out of the WI and England tours now. Can he recover in time for the WI tour of India later in the year?
vvvslaxman Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Pujara is going Hemang badani's way. He used to pick up injuries exactly at the time when India needed a replacement. Hope he doesn't get frustrated and lose focus.
