Don Bradman most over rated player in the cricketing history?

I have never seen any evidence other than his international average of tests as mark of his greatness. Yes he was well above the rest during his era But was he actually any way near to Lara or Richards. He has best average against India where probably some Nawabs were bowling. He has relatively very poor average when Larwood used bodyline. He even has poorer average in first class cricket than internationals. His batting average to me simply suggest extremely poor quality of bowling and poor quality of cricket in general during that era. To me he is most overrated player not only in Cricket but probably in history of any sports.

Statement that Bradman was best bat ever (even when made by International cricketers) is just either ignorance or a lie or ganging up or just utter crap. Undoubtebly He is best batsman of 1930s. He did won Ashes several times. I have already admitted CA/MCC needed a hero to develop cricket in 30s and post world war era. Should that give me right to be greatest batsman? I seriously doubt it

Don Bradman was not even a cricketer ,he was just a man with soota ( bat like thing used for washing up clothes in some places ) :P

I say Tendulkar is the most over rated When he scored a 100 he psychologically affects the rest of the team and India lose 78.343332219596% of the time
How does that make Bradman better than Richards or Lara?

I didnt see any credible opposition to my thread. The very fact that no one can substantially oppose prooves my point. All the cricket fans worldwide think that Don Bradman is most overrated player in sports. He is no better than any of the other greats whose list he tops. its just stupid merlin story told again and again.

I read the thread. The more i read that thread more i realised that On the threat it was his association with Sachin that kept people arguing not because people actually regard highly about Bradman. 1. People talk about tension and pressure matches during ashes? Ans: You are joking? Have you actually ever seen a India pakistan match? England was never closed for a game of cricket. Infact English like football. Their love to game can be easily seen by Indian and Pakistani filled supporters when they are playing at home against any of the subcontinent team 2. Pitches and playing codition and travel conditions Ans: People know more about pitches now then in past. Now its tailored to meet the demand of home team. Larwood had to retire for bowling bodyline. I am sure they would have beheaded the umpire (had he been a Indian) during India Australia game if had he given bradman out LBW. Its professional game now. All the players in the list are professional cricketers or when game reached professional level except bradman All Aussie player will keep on harping look at the Bradman's average. Look at Bradman's average....They never say his avearge against bodyline was around 57. His avearge in first class cricket was 90, less than international. Arun lal has average over 100 in first class.

Bradman is hyped up by the Aussie contingent including the English because we all know why as the alternatives to the "greatest batsman" is not palatable to their tastes. Bradman only played against one team, whilst the others in his era (SA, Ind, WI) were worse than even today's Bangladesh! And let's be honest England were (and are) hardly ever known for either quality pace bowling or spin if conditions don't suit them.

:sheep::elefant::ridinghorse::viking::banghead: I agree, i hear Bradman didnt enjoy oral sex. This topic has been beaten to death across many, many forums. Go read all those responses, counter responses, yelling, weird statistics etc.

Just so that we are absolutely clear on this...a guy who scored 6997 runs in 52 test matches, gets out only 70 times and averages 99.96 in the days of uncovered pitches plus scores at 57 against questionable tactics without protection is underrated???????

Why exactly did none of his contemporaries average even 65 odd if conditions for batting were so easy?
Beacuse they were all english :--D I never said Bradman was not better than his contemporaries. Seriously speaking because all of them had some sort of job and they used to do that. Nowadays anyone doing better than average, take cricket as profession. And starts playing in a different league.

Larwood was like walsh or Akram or Akhtar. Are you kidding here? Had he played against quikies like today he would have not lasted more than a match. Retired hurt....

If Kumble played in that era... He would have been considered fast bowler. Robin Singh would have been fastest bowler and Best Batsman.

Don't give two shits what you accept or don't; if this thread is just your opinion (since you dont accept stats or anything quantifiable) it is nothing but spam and you trying to valiadate your opinion to make yourself feel good. In other words, a vanity project. This topic has been beaten to death and it doesnt need the same nonsense recycled.

Thank you sir for your meticulously detailed and factually steadfast arguments which don't borrow so much as a letter from the realm's of imagination that you most certainly don't have your head in. You have just converted me to your cause. Given the occassion of me being enlightened to the glorious truths of the world, I think it is ripe for me to start threads, such as Sachin Tendulkar-Most overrated batsman ever. Imran Khan, Gary Sobers, Kapil Dev-Most overrated trio of all rounders. India v Pakistan-Most overrated rivalry in cricket. Shane Warne-Most overrated spinner in the world. West Indies (the old guard)-Most overrated team of the era.

Its case of fastest Chihuahua who won all the races on Chihuahua island in 1930 being compared for speed with dogs greyhound races. Name calling is what you end up finally. Thats the way to win argument
