If he had meant that he would have said you could keep your T20 (which was incidentally founded by England) and One dayers not IPL and one dayers (both belonged to India now) . What is the necessity to say Srilankans were in "IPL mode". Apart from Sanga, Mahela, Perera and Dilshan nobody else played in the IPL. All of them were flops there too except Mahela to some extent.

When Aus ruled the roost from 1999 onwards, all the rest of the Test teams wet their pants against Aus while Ind was the only team which drew in Aus and beat Aus at home. And yet I do not recall any Indian fan OR Vetran indian player boasting that India were No 1. It is Test cricket that is for the players who are the strongest mentally and that is exactly what England were in Cardiff on Monday night. Test cricket is the hardest form of the game and England won by remaining switched on while too many Sri Lankan players seemed to still be stuck in IPL mode. There was a theory doing the rounds on Monday morning that England should have batted on for the play that was left, perhaps to give Eoin Morgan more time in the middle and try to tire out the Sri Lankan attack ahead of Friday's second Test. Yet even if there is just a one per cent possibility of victory you have to go for it and I am delighted that Andrew Strauss pounced on Sri Lanka to turn an almost inevitable draw into the most dramatic of wins for England. Strauss's captaincy was excellent. He was a bowler short but the way he marshalled his troops, made changes at the right time and led England's superb fielding effort was spot on. But Strauss might like to learn a little lesson from his decision to bat on for Ian Bell to reach his century. If England had got Sri Lanka nine wickets down at the close there would have been questions asked about the four overs wasted while that happened. As it turned out, all was well that ended well.

Nass shouldn't hate on the IPL so much. With 4 foreigners in the XI, England are basically an IPL team themselves.
