It deserves a thread considering there are 44 of them. I must say there are so many over-rated noobs who wouldn't get a spot in Ranji side are having a time of their life. Most of them suck against spin. Gilly averages 18. Watto 24. Notable Aussies are Hussey Bollinger S Marsh ... to name a few. Rest of them sucked. Coaches no need to mention.

For me the stand out aussie players have been the above three you mentioned. Gilly has retired so I can understand him not performing well. Watto has been very disappointing though. Rest of them are pathetic.

Thanks to the plethora of aussie coaches in IPL we will continue to see these sub standards kangaroos making a fortune year after year.

Hodge has only performed in 2 matches out of some 12, I think. He was absolutely clueless in all the remaining matches, which is a surprise if you see his T20 record. I think some of them are feeling great pressure to deliver. Only a few, like hussey, bollinger, and hopes have performed upto their potential

there are too many australian coach , who paid a fortune for pathetic aussie players : DT CHristian 900000$ : D hussey 1400000$ ; Gilchrist ( he is 40 ) . the team who perform well have few aussie or good aussie player : with a lot of international experience : M hussey , Bollinger ;Lee

must agree, IPL is full of over-rated aussie coaches, physio, shrinks, fielding coaches, and alot kangaroo nonsense like Mike Young talking about some baseball filth. The top teams (CSK, MI, RCB, KKR) this year are aussie-lite and most of them don't have kangaroos as backroom staff.

agree, sometimes it feels the aussies are looking after their own, especially paying over the odds for unproven talent. It's quite shocking how the aussie coaches have overlooked talent from a team who trashed them in recent Tests, and are the world t20 champs, England....where is Kieswetter, Swann, Bresnan, Bopara,

I said the same in another thread, just do not get the obsession with all things Aussies, especially in a format such as T20 in which Australia are not that great in. The Aussies are laughing, making easy money while domestic players and coaches get ignored. Mercenaries at their worst.

If you see the drop catch of Mitchel Marsh by Dan Christian tonight, you'll get the feeling that these Aussie players try to "help" each other too while playing against. It's a sort of a 'hidden brotherhood' to help each other to attain the ultimate cause of making good money out of IPL and not to harm 'each other'.. Can't blame them as the Franchisees have been chewtiyas, right from the IPL auctions..

Don't bet on it! Franchise owners aren't stupid and will figure out what's going on. I expect most of the no-name Aussie players not to get a contract next year. In fact IPL should have some sort of regulations in place for bringing in foreign players - maybe something like "the player should have at least appeared in an intl game for his respective country in any format". This would ensure the standard of foreign players will remain high and that in case there are no decent foreign players, Indian youngsters will get in rather than see the likes of Blizzard make a fool of themselves.

It was a sitter and I don't think Symonds has ever dropped such a simple catch ever. Maybe he had tear in his eyes thinking about the good old days while trying to take the catch :winky:

Oh please, enough of these conspiracy theories. Yes I agree they have under-performed and someone like Lehman may be did overbid for Christian, but to allege that players are dropping catches just to help out their countrymen is absurd.

So they cant back out now. they will have to pay the players for 3 years.

Ya.. that is why some of the bidding appear to be simply ridiculous.
