if you say so. But thats true in my experience(pretty decent sample size)....if you calibrate 1000 telugus and 1000 tamils for smartness (i.e. in terms of being manipulative' date=' having good managerial skills etc), you will find the average rating of tamils comfortably higher than that of telugus.....[/quote'] :hysterical::hysterical:

I thought it was a physical impossibility for him to top his posts on Sachin... But after reading this, I now know I was waaaaaaaaaayyyy wrong. :hysterical: From now, i am not going to miss out on any of V_d's posts for the sake of the sheer entertainment value.

Also please note that he has extrapolated his sample size (max 20-30 golts and tams ), to saying it holds for a 'calibrated' sample size of 1000 :dontknow:. Maybe all the survey companies should hire him to make conclusions on 1/50th of claimed sample size, because he can do the extrapolation and calibration in his mind :acute:

I would be impressed if his sample size is TWO, let alone twenty. So, in V_d's world, 2 = 20 = 1000 = 120 million.:hysterical:

^^ Why is he not b$ for making such unsubstantiated statements which are also patently racist? DOes he even belong to either of the two states he is making such statements about? This not even funny. Just playfully saying tamils are this or gults are that is ok but here he is making a serious statement as if it is true. This is not on.

You're taking things too far mate, just laugh it off.:haha::haha: .Unfortunately such generalizations are very common in India. I have seen people generalizing about whole state or a community based on just one interaction . with one person belonging to the state or community, Poor Vaibhav is no different either.

Firstly I picked these jobs from the site which as per you publishes really quant fin jobs only. So all of them qualify as the quant jobs. Anyways following are job titles for all the five jobs which I have posted.
That's patently wrong - I never said or implied all jobs on that site are quant jobs. My original statement was 'please find me 5 positions in quant which are looking for a MBA' - from that site. How does this imply that the website carries only quant jobs - yeah the vast majority of their positions are quant specific, I agree with that.
Wealth Manager -Portfolio Quant Analytics-Investment Management-Asset Allocation VP/SVP level Portfolio Risk Analyst for World Leading Investment Bank in New York Senior Research Analyst - Asset Allocation | Quantitative Research Group Senior Market Risk Manager for an established bank based in New York Client Consultant for a World Leading Independent US Asset Management Firm which one of these titles suggest you that it can't be a quant fin job? You picked only Wealth manager as the title of the job. Going through the complete title would have helped - Wealth Manager -Portfolio Quant Analytics.
The first, fourth, and fifth stick out to me as not being quant specific jobs.
Coming back to original point, I'll agree the doing MBA(Finance) from a top-notch institute does not ensure a quant fin job. And you need not be an MBA necessarily to get a quant fin jobs. But to say that MBA's don't get quant fin job is taking thing too far from reality.
Yaar, even PhDs in sociology have got quant jobs. My point was that there is nothing in a MBA, even in Finance with a couple of quant related courses, which makes someone qualify for a quant job.
In most of the MBA programs you can easily avoid advanced quant courses. However if you are keen, you can find few electives which would test your quant aptitude. More an example, most of the MBA courses would offer a course like Quantitative Analysis in Finance. Believe me this course can have as much advanced quant as you'll find in any other curricuum. However, the difference is, in MBA you have to go through all these kind of stuff only if you are very keen on.
Don't agree with that - a PhD in Math/Physics/Stats will have a completely different level of quant skills and background than a handful of Business school quant courses will teach. PS : I am not denigrating MBAs - in fact they have their own skill sets which are really good.

I have nothing against you - you have every reason to be proud of your stuff and so has every one else. But, the kind of attitude you show towards complete strangers , which you know hardly anything about (esp. who differ from your opinion even by an iota) - that shows, with all your intellect/achievements you still have some mediocre part of yours inside you that keeps trying to show up. If any part of your head is grounded then perhaps that is one thing you can learn, if you feel such need. w/o that too you will do well, and so will others.
Yaar, I am doing pretty okay without your psychoanalysis - but thanks for chipping in. You are the one who brought in this entire drama about Sloan rolling a red carpet for me etc. - I was just arguing the post and did not make any personal attack on you till then. I don't really want to waste my time arguing about whether MBAs work as quants, specially on my vacation, so if you think they do go ahead and I am really sorry to have contradicted you based on what I know. Just a small PS : 400 quant specific jobs is actually quite a decent number to get from one website. On any specific day of the year, I would not think the world would have more than 1500 quant job openings and if a site captures roughly one third of those, then it's pretty good, IMO. But I am sure your email friends would know more, so I won't argue further. PS : And if you would notice a lot of jobs on the site are not entry level jobs, but senior/experienced positions which are rarer.

I talked about the average on the basis of what I've observed, the same was observed by few of my other colleagues as well (tht tams were more manipulative, had better managerial skills (more clear n convincing) on average). I do realize however, that I should have avoided writing it here and even worse to drag it further....coz its just a trivial topic...
