I was not much of a Foodie until my articleship ( training ) started for which I had to travel more frequently esp. in my city ( Mumbai ). Especially townside, where there are unbelievable options at any given price range. Olympia ( Churchgate ) Almost always go there when I can. Cheap as anything but pice apart, the food is delicious too. A half chicken biryani is Rs. 35 or something. Best Chapati in city imo. During the student days with not much in pocket, this was the place to go. Brittania ( Churchgate ) Amazing Parsi food. Only open for lunch. Has existed close to 70 years I think. Fantastic sali chicken with chapati, with berry pulav which is their speciality. I think they import Berry from Iran. ( I am a Tam Bram. Yahaan pe pehle dharam brasht kiya that ) Many more ( I ll add later )

BBQ Nation - had one experience, pretty bad one - so that was the last one also. Khansama (UB City Mall), Samarkand ( Infantry road) - both from BJN group are pretty good. Mutton-raan at Bay-leaf Koramangla is best I could find in Bangalore (never checked old-bangalore). A sardarji's dhabha in BTM-II stage (opposite to Friends, near Citibank atm) is about 100-150 sq ft space, they serve very cheap and very very tasty homely panjabi food (esp parantha & chicken curries). Kalmi kabab and tandoori chicken are best at Golkunda Chimni (on old airport road 100 meters from spice garden - away from old airport). I heard there is some Punjabi dhaba serving best Parantha near Ulsoor lake Gurudwara. Best rajasthani food - one of my rajasthani colleague's home :). Delhi - I remember only Punjabi by Nature & Kareem's, and mid-night 'parantha parlours' at IIT flyover, AIIMs & JNU.

Kakori Kebabs here are to die for. So is the chicken. Sachin's Favourite. Zaffran. These guys make some mean chelo kebabs. Great food at 5 AM. New Yorkers - A favourite since I was 5. Indianized mexican/italian Kobe - Some mean sizzlers Trattoria - Thin crust pizza's are to die for. So are the desserts, specially during the brunch buffet. China Garden - The creator of the Chicken/Gobi Manchurian. Makes some really good chinese. Tip - Gin Chicken, Honey chilli potatoes. I can go on and on, but I'm feeling a lil lazy right now :finger:

Baida chicken roti in Bade Miyan Jimmy Boy and Ideal, again at Churchgate, very good for parsi food.I have heard their standards have dropped. Samrat is good for standard Guju food. Mondegar :- Afghani Chicken There is a famous South Indian restaurant I had been to in Matunga. Cant recall the name. Excellent food. Best sambhar and chutney I have tasted outside home. Lucky for Biryani and Paya Soup in Bandra

Mariyam Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Madras cafe. Nope. Madras Cafe is at King's Circle, not Matunga :P I think he means Mani's or Ram Aashray. Both are near Podar college/ Matunga railway station. I'll put up a detailed list a little later.
