Eventually will catch up. I don't think we are only talking about batting. Overall value. Chances of Dhoni getting lot of MOM is very less as he played mostly as a floater. So his finishing ability cannot be quantified that easily with simple stat like MOM. Dhoni is not gifted technician like Tendulkar with bat. He produces telling results with whatever technique he has.

Dhoni can never be a great test batsman in test matches ,he is a limited batsman ,he is not in the same league as Gilly when it comes to batting.But as a complete package of batting,wicket-keeping and captaincy ,Dhoni will end up as an Indian great in test matches as well. If anyone here wants his numbers from test cricket, I can list some very valuable batting performances by him in test matches as well.

I meant both in Odis as well as in Test matches. YOu will realize this when sachin retires. There will be next to none impact on ODI wl ratio and slight only short term impact on test wl ratio, major reason being: dhoni is around....

Just to add Goddy's records under Dhoni, Tests: Avg 75 ODIs : Avg 50 Total centuries: 18 With all due credit to Dhoni for his T-20 success(WC, IPL,CL), One can imagine how much impact Dhoni would make on his own w/o Sachin's help. Would Dhoni still make the team no.1 in tests and Odis. Would Dhoni still get to play his WC final knock without Sachin's contribution(nearly 500)in the previous matches :winky:

Here are few statements where i am puttung term luck. He is lucky to win ICC odi world cup He is lucky to win t20 world cup He is LuckY to win IPL He is lucky to win Champions league He is lucky to defend IPL He is lucky to win Asia cup He is lucky to maintain no1 test status for India He is lucky that Sachin plays in his team. Man which planet you are from. I think he realised that we can not win matches by just batting. Despite our "not so flamboyant" bowling he probably he did planned,executed demise of every batsman in every important game. Probably he is best to identify the chink in armour of every opposition player. N.B: If he was so lucky how come he lost toss in ODI wc final? How come Sachin got out so early?

If not for his wicket keeping skills he would have never made it to the Indian Test Cricket team purely as a Batsman . Had Dhoni made his debut in the 90s he would have most probably ended up being another forgotten keeper like Dighe or MSK Prasad . But his legacy will meet a very sad end in the future once the real gems of the team especially the Greatest Sachin retires something which happened with Ponting as well . People have short memories , Dhoni's failure to achieve results with an average team after the departure of Stars leading to removal from captaincy will be remembered m.ore than what he achieved with a stronger team full of stars .

Trolling again?? Dhoni has time and again proved that he has what it takes to lead the Indian team with or without the best talent available. He is a smart tactician and is able to keep a calm head in the most tense circumstances. If you take away all the top players, no team can do well regardless of how good the captain is. Dhoni has proved by winning the world cup and reaching the #1 test ranking having an average bowling attack at best. Regarding "valuable", I have previously said its too vague a word to start a comparison on.

Hate Dhoni as much as you want, but why make such an idiotic comment. India is no 1 in tests because we are playing and not becuase others have gone down. We are the WC champs because we beat everyone else in that tournament and were better than others in crunch situations, not because others were weak or did not bother.
