Zap_Brannigan Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 In this case I would hope so xD. He is just a drama queen who is in his attention whoring phase. He will be back soon, not that is good news for pak cricket.
Jersey #10 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Have a laugh here. Look at the third post of this thread :icflove:
MSRX Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 He is just a drama queen who is in his attention whoring phase. He will be back soon' date='not that is good news for pak cricket.[/quote'] He has been treated unfairly the way he has been sacked was unexpected ,was not fair but I am also not in favor of such reactions from Afridi too.I just hope it settles down either way.I just don't want to lose him as a player. He is really key for our bowling.
Zero_Unit Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Nooo I used to like this DUDE (not in a homo way). He was the only dude from Pakistan I used to like watching play. Dang now I have no reason to support Pakistan from now on ...
Zap_Brannigan Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 He has been treated unfairly the way he has been sacked was unexpected ' date='was not fair but I am also not in favor of such reactions from Afridi too.I just hope it settles down either way.I just don't want to lose him as a player. He is really key for our bowling.[/quote'] I really dont get this. Why does he and his fans think that he is entitled to preferential treatment? This is on top of the preferential treatment hes been getting for years. He was sacked as a captain. What exactly is unfair in that? IIRC, he was going to be sacked before the WC but he wasnt. So why not after. Is he a great captain? No. Is he a great player? No Does he deserve his place in the side? Debatable So what is the reason that he should be retained as captain esp since selectors think that misbah is a better captain. If afridi was born in any other country, he would have been sacked as a player long before 300 ODIs. Even if he had somehow survived for a long time, his continuous poor shot selection irregardless of the match situation and team requirement would have made him a pariah with the team and fans. Add to that his blatant cheating techniques and stupidity on field, would have made him the laughing stock of the team. Afridi is our Sreesanth plus the cheating. Besides, he was sacked as a captain and not as a player. He is being extremely petty to retire because he didnt get his way.
Jersey #10 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Trivia: Afridi's shortest retirement was from April 12 2006 to April 27 2006. This may be the shortest retirement span for anyone in the history of cricket. Let's see if he can beat this ps. - if any one missed this from the other thread
gaurav92 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Look at the third post of this thread :icflove: Oh Thank you tranny  But where are your comments on that thread :hitler: Did you read it ? :icflove:
ravishingravi Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Pakistani players are like Akshay Kumar in "Main Khiladi Tu Anadi". Always carrying a resignation letter in their pockets and threatening the employer. But Akki only threatened, they actually submit the resignation and then apply for same job.

But Akki only threatened' date=' they actually submit the resignation and then apply for same job.[/quote'] Now since nobody belives on any news of Pakistani player’s retirement, I feel now if any player ever decided to take a REALL retirement, he might introduce a new concept and declare: "I am taking retirement from announcing the retirements"...
Sir_Afridi Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Is he a great captain? No. Is he a great player? No Does he deserve his place in the side? Debatable If afridi was born in any other country, he would have been sacked as a player long before 300 ODIs. In last 10 years in ODIs, Afridi has performed better than Harbhajan & Vettori. Afridi http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/42639.html?class=2;spanmax1=31+May+2011;spanmax2=31+May+2011;spanmin1=31+May+2006;spanmin2=31+May+2001;spanval1=span;spanval2=span;template=results;type=allround Harbhajan http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/29264.html?class=2;spanmax1=31+May+2011;spanmax2=31+May+2011;spanmin1=31+May+2006;spanmin2=31+May+2001;spanval1=span;spanval2=span;template=results;type=allround Vettori http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/38710.html?class=2;spanmax1=31+May+2011;spanmin1=31+May+2001;spanval1=span;template=results;type=allround

He has some personal issues ( like mental stability) that needs to be resolved. I dont know if he going thru depression or what but he needs medical attention right away. Just because he does not get everything he wants he starts throwing the toys out of the stroller. He needs to sort it out. Come to think of it he needs a large brain to go with large heart too. Overall he is not a bad person.
ravishingravi Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 This might seem a generalization but entire nation seems to suffer from a "Foot in mouth" syndrome be it Rehman Malik, Veena Malik or Sir Afridi. The only time the cricket team has shown any stability was under an authoratarian leader like Imran.

Why 10 years and not 2 when he has a grand average of 20 with the bat and 39 with the ball against the good teams. Bhajji has been a passenger in our side for a long time and a lot of us here want him dropped. He wasnt even the main spinner for a few years in those 10 years you have used. He just played 200 out of the 300 games India played in the last 10 years should tell you how much he was preferred in those 10 years you have used as a barometer. Again, Does these stat prove that Afridi, Is a great captain? No. Is a great player? No Does he deserve his place in the side? Debatable

Afridi took over a team in difficult circumstances after match fixing saga.He united the team and all the players were supporting him. He won series in NZ,WI gave good fight to SA & Eng and performed better than many favs of the WC.
mishra Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I think it serves him well. How do they say... Yeah.... You reap what you sow... He didnt gave a honorable retirement to Shoib Akhtar. Infact he gave even lamer excuses for not selecting him. Fastest bowler in the world kept begging for one last chance against best ever batsman in world. Go and ask Akhtar what he feels now....

So , you think that afiridi should have cared more about Aktars feelings than that it was a world cup semifinals and select the best team ? World'c fastest "baller" was a cheat and a druggie. It was a good decision to leave him out and play wahab, who picked 5 wickets in that match. Even with the added risk that wahab might find a jacket filled with money and bowl a few no-balls, Aktar wouldnt have lasted 10 overs against Sehwag and Sachin.
