BCCI too powerful, players believe

Boss as much as we love test cricket and hate T20, we need to accept that T20 is where the money is. Most cricketers aren't as emotionally attached to the game as yourself, for some its just a means to get paid. Now players are being offered more money for less work, less stress and strain on the body, who wouldn't take that up? For some reason we expect cricketers to be happy just getting to wear the national colours, they shouldn't even take a salary. Look at the cricketers of the past, there are a lot who struggled after cricket, because it didn't allow them to save up enough and they didn't have the time to develop other skills.

BCCI should launch a Cricketer's Benovalent T20 series to generate funds for retired cricketers like Holding, Bedi etc.. I'm pretty sure that'll shut up many naysayers..

T20 is simply not cricket never mind a Progression or improvement of any existing versions of cricket. Just go follow baseball .. afterall it is also something that "evolved" out of cricket.
Dude, you keep harping about baseball, saying watch that instead of T20 without any regard to the fact that they are still as different as cricket and baseball have always been. How exactly is 50 over cricket different from baseball whereas 20 over cricket is same as baseball? :giggle:

lol ... relocating the goalpost ehhh ? How about you stick to your original question of "Progression of cricket" ( which you were saying nobody was responding to ) instead of bringing in revenues. This is like bringing in price of Tamatar and andey in a discussion of what is healthy food.
What goalpost? I didnt realize i set a goalpost. I used paragraphs to differentiate between 2 different line of thoughts. The original question i ask you and other test match purists is not about progression or evolution of cricket, it is about market realities. I will ask you the question again just to be clear. How can you expect players to do more work for less money when you dont want to do that. Do you think that the pride of playing for their country should make up for the loss in their salary? If it does, then why dont you give up your cushy private, MNC job and go and work for the country? Progression/Evolution is all about the market realities. It is not about what you want, it is about what the market wants i.e. the majority. You keep harping that the test matches are the best test of skill. No doubt about it. But a better test of skill would be if we got back to the test match rules of the 1900's namely, timeless matches and uncovered wicket. Player safety and viewers be damned. Let cricket only be a test of skill and forget about everything else.

If we want to make test cricket and international cricket more prestigious to play for and earn a spot in a international team. Then you have focus on domestic markets such as IPL, Big Bash, First Class, County Cricket etc....as the main platform for cricketers all around the world regardless of the country. Reducing the international fixtures will make the fixtures more valuable and exclusive. This is why many sports are popular like football, basketball, rugby etc. Because the sport doesnt have prejudice of where you come from and your chances of making it to the top level. Atm talented crickets outside of the elite countries basically have to move to one of those countries and work their way up again.

I quoted this from cricketrules and this is my original question "Originally Posted by cricketrulez instead you want control over other peoples lives for your version of "Pure" entertainment. can i make rules like that in your profession?" And your answer is they are not worth it? Wow..its pretty safe to say that a lot of people don't think you are worth what you are paid. There are millions who think that about any profession they are not in. Its so easy to say. I say again, go back and work in a govt company for India or do not demand others to do the same. More number of people wants to watch T20 and hence T20 pays more. Make more people watch test cricket if you want tests to pay more. Besides very few cricketers make the kind of money that they can retire on from just test cricket, annual contract and ads. If you are not the top 10 or so popular cricketer in India, you would probably end up with very little ad money and never make it to grade A (which still pays very little compared to IPL). Around 50 indian cricketers made more than 100,000 from IPL. If T20 and IPL never existed, most would end up with very little money in the bank when they retire. I do not know why timeless tests were done with apart from being impractical. But they would be a better test of skills. Hence a test which is timeless would be much more a test of skill than a 5 day "test". The current test format is the best format at present only because we dont have timeless test matches. But it is not the best format of all time. In 50 years, when 5 day test matches are extinct, someone would be arguing that 50 overs matches are the best format when the only formats remaining are 10 overs, 20 overs and 50 overs.

Zap, Forget it. I called him (Boss_Bhai) out. He either doesn't have a counter or he thinks it his birthright to have pure entertainment at the cost of others. Bet Kato is wishing he did a little better with his T20 skills and had a IPL contract now. Look what all that gritty performance in the purest form of the game got him CR

Funny to see people talking with authority about timeless tests and the supposed progression to 5 day tests without having any clue of history. Test matches were not timeless at inception, in fact there were quite a few 4 day tests. Timeless tests were introduced as an experiment because after pitch preparation underwent a major change after the first World War, conditions became batting friendly all of a sudden. A lot of tests started ending in draws, so the concept of timeless tests was introduced in 1926 (after the first 4 tests of the Ashes ended in a draw) and was carried out sporadically till around 1939, when it was junked because of the impracticality associated. So, there was no Timeless Tests -> 5 Day Tests progression which happened - it was a passing experiment and no more than a few dozen tests were played under the conditions.

< bull **** snipped> So before you decide to use cliches like "Market realities" try also to play by the rules of the "market". Play by the rules of the "market"? Isn't that what has happened. Looks like the market voted in favor of T20 and IPL. ICL couldn't pay the players what the market was offering. WICB couldn't and wouldn't play nice with their best player and the market offered him an alternative to make a living. It doesn't doesn't make you happy, but toughshit live with it. 4. If you want to compete with Test Cricket lets start on a level playing field ... and that would involve popularizing T20 using cricketers who specialize in T20 without forcing Test legends to play in it. Lets see how that will pan out. In other words T20 cricket owes everything to Test match cricket. Not the other way around. It is the flagship product. If you are soo cocky about T20 start on your own from scratch and see how far you get.Lets remove all the stars who owe everything to Cricket prior to IPL and then see how far will go. Just because a few effed up greedy administrators decided to sell the soul because they could doesn't make it right. This bullshit argument can be made about every thing. how the present owes it to the past. eg. Horse carriages did all the work before trains and automobiles and actually carried the stuff for the laying the rail roads etc 5. Lastly : In my responses to yoda last week I also said that to maintain a balance and level playing field Test cricketers should be offered competitive monies as T20 cricketers. Otherwise cricketers will start taking the easier route. So what exactly is your idea? Pay all test cricketers as much money as t20? From all the countries? What exactly should be source of these funds to pay the Lankas, pakis, bangs and Wi's and NZ? Remember IPL money is not BCCI's money. It is the team owners money. BCCI gets a cut which in turn uses for cricket in india. Are you saying that BCCI should distribute the money to all the boards equally? I will be more than happy to take the suggestions of these said people provided they watch me work 8hrs a day for a reasonable amount of time after having to purchase the footage on some cable channel for entertainment. I am even willing to not ask for the same amount of money that Test Cricketers currently make. if not then STFU and GTFO you have no business to comment on how much I make and whether I deserve it or not. The reverse is not true. Because cricket is what it is today because of fans like me. My share might be teeny-weeny but nonetheless I have a right. Too f'n bad no one gives a **** about your work is besides you employer and your family. No, you don't have right to dictate how the sport is run. If the theme of a movie doesn't interest you, don't watch it. you have the right as a fan to turn off the TV and not watch it. More fans tune into T20 than they do for test cricket. Sucks to be you First of all I'am not in the business of generating employment for cricketers or contributing to their retirement funds. My interests are solely towards quality of cricket and every TDH worth his salt will tell you that T20 contributes nothing in that regard. You need to first of all come to terms with that. To sum it up everything comes down to what is the right thing to do as far as "cricket being played" is concerned. If you think T20 offers good cricket then at the risk of sounding presumptuous I must say that you never probably understood it. It is pretty apparant when you compare Test Cricket with Limited overs cricket without bothering to understand that the key difference between Test cricket and Limited overs cricket is the 2 inngs that are on offer in Test cricket. This is what mainly separates Test cricket from others. Not the duration. Cricket is not a sport that can be played at true skills in 3 hours. Which is why I offered you Baseball. Afterall it comes from cricket and it perfectly suits your idea of "Progression". But if you do understand the beauty of Test Cricket then it becomes your duty to protect its interests. SO once again, it is about your opinion what is "pure" and how cricket should be run. But your share is teeny-weeny as you said. May be you'll get your dream of getting people to pay for the privilege of watching you work and start your own test league and pay the cricketers to play only test cricket. till then suck it and live with it

Yo you retarded dipshit ... if you want me to respond to your incoherent ramblings you need to do the following things (in that order) : 1. Surgically extract your head that is stuck way up your ass. A veterinarian doc would do just fine for you. 2. Then try to grow up. 3. Learn some etiquettes of forum debating. Just because you have a keyboard hooked upto a RJ45 jack doesn't make you a poster. 4. Learn how to maintain attention for a period that is longer than 5 minutes. Don't worry about Test cricket it is beyond you. You have clearly bigger problems that need immediate attention. Please head to that door and don't let it hit you in your ass as it would lead to your head getting knocked further up your ass.
Can't expect that from a Tontee Tontee fanboy. :((
