If they ain't working then how are they gonna pay for a whole test match. Holding should see the crowd in big test centers. You won't find an empty seat. Looking at the current tests in England, the stadiums are not even half full.

jairamesh Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Alot of this resentment from the ilk of Holding and Botham, comes down to fact that no-one likes someone who is the best at it, with the added advantage of influence (in this case financial power from the Indian market). During the times when West Indies and Australia were the top teams, the influence was in England, but they were $h!te cricket team. The MCC tried everything to get England to top, tinkering rules (e.g. the famous "one" bouncer rule to negate the WI bowlers), to play the all WCs in England etc.) Hence no-one cared as long as the poms weren't winning anything. So no-one will care if the Indians don't winning anything.

He is also a very emotional guy . Bossbhai, that is all good...but why does he need to bring India in into everything? Just seems like sour grapes.

That lovely tone and slender accent I love to hear so much when he is commentating is losing it's worth. 'Olding was regarded one of the better commentators especially because of his unbiased yet passionate reading of the game and what happens around it. But, of late he seems to have lost the plot. What is it that is making him so bitter about India. It's alright to be annoyed at BCCI but now he is entering into the realm of 'anything Indian'. I mean the reference to Indian people was unnecessary. I just hope Gavaskar takes him head on and asks him "what is wrong with you?" when India tour England. Gayle's IPL pyrotechnics seems to have pushed him over the edge. And the English b@stards in the Sky team are just feeding him, poking him, opening up provocative topics during commentating. I don't understand the need to talk about a nation and it's people when you are commentating at a match that has nothing to do with that nation. Talking about Indian people as if we have nothing else to do but to fill up stadiums just coz he wants us to is taking it a little too far. If not Gavva, I hope at least Dada questions him straight as to what the fuqq is his problem with our country. Barking dogs seldom bite....fine...but barking dogs cause noise pollution...if he doesn't shut up soon enough, some Ekalavya will rise up to have his wagging tongue stuck with arrows
gsivak Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I think we should get used to such comments. We have the best team in the world currently and the most powerful board. It is highly unlikely that we would be loved by the rest. A couple of english writers and commentators seem to have made India baiting into a fine art. They would write some insane stuff about Indian cricket/BCCI/Indian fan and (the emotional breed that we are) wait for Indian cricket fans to flood their tweets/comment section with protests. They will then tweet or write about the 'sensitive Indian fan.' We should just lighten up and ignore such remarks.
