B-> We helped our poor friends in Sri Lanka and now we're helping England out. :yay: :yay: :yay: The Telegraph understands that this summer’s tour by India, the global power of world cricket, will earn the England and Wales Cricket Board significant returns from their overseas broadcast deal with ESPN. In 2007, the ECB signed a rights deal with the broadcaster in the region of £40 million. A large slice, 45 per cent, is linked directly to the tour by India, a cheque which will arrive at a time when the county game needs a financial boost. When sponsorship and ticketing sales from the four Tests, five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 match are added, the visit by India will make 2011 the most lucrative in the history of English cricket. The money underlines the power of Indian cricket and the reason why boards are keen to play as many matches as possible against the recently crowned world champions and the No1-ranked Test side. To maximise income, over the next 18 months England will cram in 27 matches against India in all forms of cricket, touring the country twice Lord’s is already sold out for four days of the first Test and Surrey have reported 80 per cent capacity already for the first three days of the fourth Test. The one-day international against India at the Kia Oval on Sept 9 sold out before Christmas. However, most of the ticket revenue and match sponsorship would be kept by the individual grounds. “Perhaps we are now seeing the Ashes is not the only iconic series and Test series against India are taking their place at that table,†said Richard Gould, the Surrey chief executive. “Every Test series is important but perhaps now we are going to have a major event every two years rather than every four.†Hosting political party conferences, weddings, event management and sharing developments with other community organisations will have as much bearing on the future of county cricket as visits by Sachin Tendulkar No different in Australia. ( The value of Indian television rights have changed the dynamic of international cricket with an Indian tour of Australia now generating five or six times that of the next biggest draw, England.

FICA , DRS, BCCI too powerfull. IPL is really killing cricket.. All these they are doing just to put pressure on BCCI for bilateral games between England and India. It all looks very dirty.... I am sure that BCCI will soon be striking out England from its calendar

Its actually other way round.. But here my argument is based on fairness. Lack of us not playing against Aussies or Pakistanis or Windies or NZ or Zimbabwe is actually impacting there finances too... English are trying to grab most of our calendar by putting additional pressure. They are the ones who are being unfair to rest of cricketing world.

Lords is the home of cricket of course the ECB are going to have views on things like the IPL Like you have views on DRS It is called opinions, we all have them. The County system need overhauling like shield cricket in Aus does, but it is not bankrupt. You will not have any games to play if all you do is look inward When your cricket was not so good the bigger sides played you, but now you are number one you seem to think you are too good to play the rest of us:haha:

THere is no correlation.

Anyway, my point is that teams would want to play India irrespective of our ranking because of the money it brings. If we drop down to number 2 or 3 in the next year, would all the boards not want to play us? Of course, being the number 1 team is an added advantage since you get to see the top players and should have a good series. The BCCI has got Australia and SA on board. They also have the support of SL and poorer boards like Bang, WI and Zim. So it's the ECB who has fewer supporters than India. And finally, no I don't think that we're too good for anyone. I grew up watching cricket when we were a very mediocre team (like England supporters in the 90s). I cherish the wins but I know that it will not last forever. We've got young talent but have been fortunate to have several greats who would make our all-time 11 playing in the same team.

Is it way more than when England was the unquestioned administrative power in world cricket ? The ECB can be traditional in its approach, no problem with that, but very often they and some English media give the impression that they are envious of India's growing importance in world cricket administration and finance and their diminished position. That is the part that they don't seem to like and not the modernization of cricket, IPL etc. They are just excuses.
