CSK Fan Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 We are taking about those who have proven themselves and considered to be amongst the greats Brian Charles Lara :winky: But isnt Lara's average less than Sachin? In fact when they both played together, the difference was massive Oh sorry, thats where the RPT comes in
zen Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 But isnt Lara's average less than Sachin? In fact when they both played together' date=' the difference was massive[/quote'] There are so many factors to explain his lower avg and you made some of them in your posts on this thread to in SRT vs VVS so lets not waste time on that On the other thread, you tried to post abt contraditions to the very point I posted abt *cough cough* as if I was contradicting

Or it is RPT? Anyways, Sehwag (whether its avg, rpt or sr)

pensionplan Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 You don't even understand the difference between International cricket and FC cricket :facepalm:Nice way to hide behind International versus FC jargon when in essence it is 114 tons for Sir Viv to 78 for SRT. We all know what great International caliber BD is (Rolls eyes). But you should keep up with your International cricket BS since that is the only thing left for you to hold on to.

zen Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 lol ... do you even understand the diff between your stat and mine? *rett looks again at the link* from the top of my head: you have added "matches involving SRT", while I had it starting from Jan 1 1996 (the year VVS, RD and SG came in) Somehow you seem to think it is the 'correct stat' but imo, it fails to take into account when Ind would have won when Sachin didn't play and others came up with good performances to win it for India ..... Since we calculated from the period when 1996 brigade came in to see how their arrival changed India's fortunes, I would stick with what I gave. But for discussion, I don't mind using the stats you gave

carnish Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Though VVS is a great player in the 2nd innings' date=' [b']to say that SRT has performed only when India has lost is a load of crap. Both VVS (28) and SRT (32) have a poor 2nd innings average in matches we lost. Its understandable that when 2 of the big 3 fail, we lose the match. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;innings_number=3;innings_number=4;opposition=1;opposition=2;opposition=3;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=batting_average;qualmin1=10;qualval1=matches;result=2;team=6;template=results;type=batting In the matches that were drawn, VVS averages 76 compared to SRT's 59 in the second innings. This average is embellished by 9/14 not outs compared to SRT's 7/22 http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;innings_number=3;innings_number=4;opposition=1;opposition=2;opposition=3;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=batting_average;qualmin1=10;qualval1=matches;result=4;team=6;template=results;type=batting In won matches, VVS averages 68 to SRT and RDs 51.This part I agree with. He is one of our best 2nd innings player. But 2nd innings batting alone doesnt win you matches. A lot of those performances came on the back of the foundation laid in the first innings by SRT and Viru. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;innings_number=3;innings_number=4;opposition=1;opposition=2;opposition=3;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=batting_average;qualmin1=10;qualval1=matches;result=1;team=6;template=results;type=batting http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;innings_number=1;innings_number=2;opposition=1;opposition=2;opposition=3;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=batting_average;qualmin1=10;qualval1=matches;result=1;team=6;template=results;type=batting if you are going to pick up things i never said i cant help you...see the bold parts in your comment and tell me when did i write that sachin that sachin has performed only when india has lost.... i said he has performed better in matches india has lost and what i meant was every player cant play well in all the innings but when one does one must go on and make sure the team wins.... next bold part... laxman average is bolstered by his not outs true enough but that shows he took india to a win by staying at the crease and ensuring india wins which sachin has not been able to do cause he got out... my point.... just arguing with your points without actually looking at what i am saying makes this argument baseless and i am fed up answering you cause basically each time you quote me you write something i never said... huh
CSK Fan Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 if you are going to pick up things i never said i cant help you...see the bold parts in your comment and tell me when did i write that sachin that sachin has performed only when india has lost.... i said he has performed better in matches india has lost and what i meant was every player cant play well in all the innings but when one does one must go on and make sure the team wins.... next bold part... laxman average is bolstered by his not outs true enough but that shows he took india to a win by staying at the crease and ensuring india wins which sachin has not been able to do cause he got out... my point.... just arguing with your points without actually looking at what i am saying makes this argument baseless and i am fed up answering you cause basically each time you quote me you write something i never said... huh First point, most of the time India has won is because of first innings performance. But you ignore this completely when you give more improtance to 4th innings. Sachin has not performed better when India lost, thats again a falsehood you keep on repating. His average has come down. You are talking about the handful of matches when we won by chasing and ignoring the scores when we won by setting a huge target. How is the former more important than the later, particularly when the later sample is small? Second point, you dont seem to have the common sense to realise a batsman coming at no 5-6 will have MORE CHANCES to remain not out and take team to victories than a no 4 Finally one question, would you prefer a batsman who scores consitnantly, sets up hige scores which cause the team victories or the batsman, who scores when we are occasionaly in the need to chase whcih happens very rare? Well we are lucky we have both in the team though! Never lose sight of the big picture. We became number one by winningh lots of matches. And out of them, we had very few when we had to chase to win. So if you think only chases are important, you are ignoring so many matches where we won by setting huge totals.
mishra Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Dont know why, I keep on Reading posts on this thread , Again and again, Repetiotion of same points..... Makes me feel why do i even bother to read some posts..... There are just key pad Ninjas with twisted egoistic brain that keeps telling them that they can not loose an argumenet. Sorry, they must not loose an argument..... Just because they dont feel they lost a argument doesnt mean that the havent.... Sod off . Get a life....
