Tauffel is better than Rauf IMO I guess there is a limit on the number of matches in which umpires can officiate and this neutral umpires concept lessens the options for those countries who have umpires in elite panel.

If umpires are biased and not good enough to officiate in matches of their own country then what's the point of keeping them elite panel?

If its only applicable for elite umpires, then its ok I guess. The problem is when the kinds of Shakeel Khan and Shakoor Rana start showing up. Not only would they be crap, but also blindly biased which would make it worse

Pakistani umpires are notorious for their biased nationalistic umpiring........for almost 9 years Miandad wasnt given out LBW in Pakistan.Some years ago when Australia toured Pakistan....Mcgrath had Inzy dead LBW but the umpire gave not out 3 -4 times.This is what they do........no LBWs no Fine nicks no bat pad............so unless you have them out bowled caught with a huge edge or hoick etc etc......they are not out.All close wides no balls in their favour and the opposition batsmen are skinned.Read what Border Waugh Gatting etc had to say about Paki umpiring.

Utalk Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Shakoor rana had bad name because of Getting saga. He was not biased at all. Shakil khan was a disgrace and deserves everything he gets 25 years on. I started following cricket in 1987 and umpiring in most countries was biased not just Pakistan.

I agree umpiring was biased in most of countries before neutral and third umpiring things came up, but in Pakistan it was at different level altogether. It was atrocious to the level that foreign bowlers would be mocked at if they are appealing for LBW against a mainstay Pakistani bat. An analysis of Miandad LBW's dismissals confirm all these notions.
mani0993 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 The day of the test I was able to watch fully, the Umpires were brilliant. Was really taken aback to See Tarapore giving some super decisions. Don't know about the other days. Disagree with Rameez, he certainly wants to re-visit the 80s & 90s. It would be interesting to see if Rameez agrees to Tarapore & Amish Saheba or S. Ravi (avg. umpires. Ravi is poorer than a state level umpire) for the Pak-Ind series.

Rajnikant ( Robot) and SRK ( Ra.One) can be technology consultants. Sensors on the pitch to detect no balls. Cameras:to judge wides, run outs, lbws, six, four etc Whats the need for humans? Humans are fallible.
saneindian Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 As if Dar and Asad Rauf have never made mistakes. Tarapore missed acouple of line decisions and no more. As much as Rameez wants to shout about it, he was no worse than Rauf was during the Ind-WI test series. he did redeem himself post that with a good WC ad a great show in the Ind-Eng series. Also remember when they started out Dar and Rauf weren't as good as they are now. In fact Rauf was rubbish and used to give howlers. Dar too has had his horror days as an umpire, (decider ODI in the Ind-Eng series in 2007, gave Sachin and Dravid out wrongly). Maybe Rameez needs to ask PCB why there was DRS for ODIs but not for tests.

Did Brathwaite got a bad decision earlier in this series? Funny how shastri calls these as unfortunate and doesn't cry much about it for long. There have been more unfortunate cases in this series.
