sarcastic Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I don't understand why we have to wrap Kohli in cotton wool and treat him as if he is going to become the greatest batsman of all time. If he is not performing' date= why should he be in the team? Because Kohli has out performed every other youngster (including your favorite Suresh Raina) in ODIs so far. The kind of success Kohli achieved in ODIs is unprecedent by any other youngster of the current lot. vvvslaxman can explain you properly why Kohli will turn every other youngster to dust!!!
Cricket Tragic Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Since when did batsman start getting judged based on 3 innings. 1 day you guys make Kohli hero and Raina zero' date= the other day you do the opposite. Start giving players time, they won't score every match, Kohli has proven his worth, its just 1 innings he needs to get going, in ODI's too he had a rather sluggish start. Different set of fans. One group supports and the other doesn't. So you'll get a reaction whether a player does well or not.

I forgot ODI success was linked to Tests. Dhoni should be averaging 50 then. How about Pujara and Badrinath. Both have performed exceedingly well in the Ranji Trophy, or should we just forget that now.

Badrinath seems to be a domestic bully (so far) Be it ODIs or FC record, Kohli outperforms Raina by a distance..> In fact they both are not comparable...:icflove: Let us wait and see for the coming innings and if Raina can eventually catch up with Kohli even in Test cricket :two_thumbs_up:
Cricket Tragic Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Yeah, I'm sure that Badri would have loved the bounce in Barbados. He thrives in such conditions.

Smashing tons in Ranji Trophy and A tours?:winky:
Show_stopper Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Yeah' date=' I'm sure that Badri would have loved the bounce in Barbados. He thrives in such conditions.[/quote'] :cantstop: guys...Kohli still has a minimum of 3 chances in this series. Plenty of time to prove himself.
Rajma Chawal Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 On what basis did Raina get a run in test matches? Smashing tons in Ranji Trophy and A tours?:winky: Atleast he took his chance straightaway. Rather than diddle around and try to act smart and sledge like he did in the last match.
Rajma Chawal Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Yeah' date=' I'm sure that Badri would have loved the bounce in Barbados. He thrives in such conditions.[/quote'] Err...isn't the same with Raina? And how did he do? Oh ya, got us out of a hole with VVS before being given out wrongly.

Both are averaging in the lower 40's in the same period...(that is considering raina's second phase in ODIs).
jusarrived Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Rajma bro , did Virat steal your Chawal by any chance ?
Show_stopper Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 The preferance for Kohli emerges from indian obsessioj with stats...no one has had that perfect a start to his career. And in that sense he deserves credit. But he will have to do the hard work in Tests for me to be convinced of his technique.
Rajma Chawal Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Rajma bro ' date=' did Virat steal your Chawal by any chance ?[/quote'] Perhaps.
Cricketics Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 If Kohli doesn't get picked for English tour, I will take it as blessing, that something better is waiting for him.. I,E Aussie tour. If he does get picked, home of cricket will get to see the next BIG THING

The Outsider Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Atleast he took his chance straightaway. Rather than diddle around and try to act smart and sledge like he did in the last match. The series is not over yet, as far as I know.
Rajma Chawal Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 The series is not over yet' date=' as far as I know.[/quote'] Aye, and in that time Raina might have another century or two.
Show_stopper Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 What' date=' as the 12th man?[/quote'] Dude...there is plenty of space in the team for both to succeed atleast in this series.
Rajma Chawal Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Dude...there is plenty of space in the team for both to succeed atleast in this series. True. However, there is only one spot for the Lords test.
The Outsider Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Aye' date=' and in that time Raina might have another century or two.[/quote'] That will be great - hopefully Kohli, Mukund, and Vijay can complement it so we have a stronger base for the future.
