deepak_sach Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 1.Unmukt Chand 2.Ishan Jaggi 3.Mandeep Singh 4.Ashok Menaria 5.Mayank Aggarwal P.S:These are the players whom atleast one must have been in place of Srikkanth junior.
Cricket Tragic Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I've heard of 2-3 of those names but not watched them play. Anyone know if they're any good?
Sachin=GOD Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Unmukt Chand and Menaria are good. Mayank Aggarwal also looks like he has potential. Don't know much about the rest.
Ultimate_Game Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I think you are missing out the real would-be legend - Srikkanth Anirudha. He's the real deal and he's unlucky to have a FC average of 29. Just wait for the Emerging Players tour and his debut with the Indian team and you will even forget Tendulkar.
Trichromatic Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Maneria, Mayank and Ishank are good players. Ishank had a good season last time. He is a talented player and with proper guidance and opportunities he can do well. http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/content/player/279554.html His list A average is 58. It's better that such players get proper attention while they are doing well. It's the phase when they are in better mindset and can learn quickly. Also they are flexible. If any changes are to be made in terms of technique or other aspects, it can be done more easily that later.
Show_stopper Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Mandeep Singh just looked the part...you know the way Rohit, kohli looked the oart when they played u-19 WC. What our padosis would call 'talunted' :p
Cricket Tragic Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 That is an impressive FC record but I really think that you need to watch the guys bat as well and not just go by their domestic numbers.
gaurav92 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Chand - Useless chap. Saw him in IPL and looks like a mindless slogger Menaria - Poor technique, looks to slog on most occasions. May be IPL demands it, but still you need not hit the ball aerial every single time to score. Mayank - Decent batsman, the best of the lot. Plays spin well and is a good fielder too. Jaggi - Don't know much of him. Mandeep - Again, saw glimpses on his batting in IPL, looks like a slogger in patches. All in all, they need to up their game, they are still young and can only improve from here on.
rkt.india Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 There is one more guy named KL Rahul, U19 opener from Karnataka who is said to have technique like Rahul Dravid. Basically, he has molded himself on RD. Link about him. http://cricketnext.in.com/tag/k+l+rahul.html
deepak_sach Posted July 6, 2011 Author Posted July 6, 2011 All of these batsman got out to Lasith Malinga.

gaurav92 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 ^That is what IPL has done, before IPL, we had players with decent techniques before they become stars. But now, all we see is decent bank balance even for a Cricketer who doesn't even make an international debut. IPL Victims :((

They are not young and inexperienced and do not know how to approach in T20. In IPL, these young players mainly go on slogging spree.

He did look good against spin though. I think he hit Murali's 1st ball of the IPL for a massive 6.

Ashok Menaria is decent. Jaggi and Mandeep currently look work in progress. Ajinkya Rahane has impressed a lot of people. I would add him to the "Watch Out" list.

cowboysfan Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 some of the posts are insane, why are you judging young batsmen based on t20 cricket?you should only post if you have actually seen them in ranji.Mayank had problems in ranjis,he was dropped if i remember right.

I just checked this guy's record - he hasn't even played a List A game, leave alone FC. The sum total of his achievements at a senior level are a couple of Twenty20 fifties and he's already being touted as a "batsman to watch out for" :haha:
Sir_Afridi Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Lets not hype them otherwise if they turn out to be not good enough the disappointment is greater. Indian fans should learn from the Kohli saga.
