NareshK Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 What is Bangladesh going to achieve by coming to India to play test matches and getting beaten to pulp ? They havent done too great after they got test status. If they want to improve, BD board should consider sending players to play in Indian domestic circuit. Also BCCI has nothing to gain by sending its team to tour Bangladesh but it still does only because its trying to help BD cricket generate interest and revenue. So they should be thankful to India in that regard.
urbestfriend Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 If you believe that the FTP is influenced by what BCCI wants then you have to assume that BCCI is doing a favor on Bangladesh by arranging to tour them so that the Bangladesh board could earn some bucks by hosting. If BCCI was influencing the FTP for it's own benefit, they would be hosting Bangladesh instead to get some money out of it. One can not assume that the "money hungry BCCI" is arm twisting the ICC into making an FTP that would actually benefit Bangladesh. Because that simply does not make any sense. Its not about making money and doing favor..It is about denying two tests to BD team and its fans. If you go by doing favor, all boards can refuse to host BD as hosting BD doesn't benefit them monetarily. Either you kick the BD out of test playing countries or make sure that you honor FTP commitments regardless of financial benefits...Well , we shouldn't blame BCCI as much as ICC for this though.

IIRC it was with the India tours were reversed by mutual agreement and ICC did not raise an objection. Read Outy's post above. If Bangladesh wants to tour, there should be no problem at all. Well, it's not about what Bangladesh board is keen on. I think more important question is about the trend. Series should be arranged for both home and away matches. Haven't we got lot of India-Sri Lanka series recently. There was an improper balance and same trend is being set here. Someone said that they will be thrashed in India. If they don''t deserve to play in India, then their test status should be withdrawn.

We toured in 2004, 2007 and 2010 - I guess the middle series would have been to make up for the home tour. That said, I agree that the BCCI should have hosted Bangladesh at least once as all the other Test nations have done so.

BCCI bashing has become a fashion. Tell me what's the reason for not hosting BD? It's known that BCCI had to agree for UDRS in return for not honoring FTP,why?

Bangladesh has always preferred to host India than tour India because they earn more from hosting India. From BCCI's POV, it's not much different anyways.
