EnterTheVoid Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 The MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) is a colossal 100, 000+ capacity stadium in Melbourne, Australia. I have the good fortune of going backstage -- commentary/press boxes, corporate V.I.P lounges, players changerooms etc -- and just wanted to share the pictures. This a mind bending piece of architecture. Watch this space if you want to see what happens backstage.
IKnowU Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 :woot: I remember channal naan showing a brief insight into the MCG during the cricket show last summer.
EnterTheVoid Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 The MCG is nothing short of an engineering marvel. I've watched a fair few matches here and believe me, this is as grand on the inside as it is on the outside. Can't wait to go backstage and see the nuts and bolts of how this place runs.
EnterTheVoid Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 ^WTF is Pup doing on the big TV screen :hehe: No troaling.
gaurav92 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 No troaling. I was just asking, anyways no more of the scum captain here :icflove:

EnterTheVoid Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Man, you lot are bloody impatient. Pipe down and they're coming.
Anonymous Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 BCV_fn5bGfQ Did you actually walk through all this distance?
EnterTheVoid Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Yep, something like that Anonymous. The guy rattled a few places off the top of his head, but the three mentioned are definitely on the list.
EnterTheVoid Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 BCV_fn5bGfQ Did you actually walk through all this distance? Its a monster ground and the backstage pass goes for 1 - 1.5 hours. For a 3 story, 100, 000+ capacity stadium, it seems about right. Will let you know more of the details as soon as I do it in a few days. Pictures to come soon so please pipe down and show some patience. I can hardly wait either :yay:
EnterTheVoid Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Anonymous and Tics, check this out. This is what the MCG looks like during a TEST if you haven't seen it before. Don't be fooled by the supposed lack of people, the number of people there would have filled 80% of cricket stadia worldwide to capacity point. http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=254669
Cricketics Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Sree, I saw this Zimbabwe-Australia game in 2004 at MCG. It was rained out after Aus batted full 50 overs. The place where I was sitting, Ian Harvey's six came right there and I actually got the ball in my hand and threw it away to the fielder Sean Ervine.
