CSK Fan Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 He didn't get a chance to bowl at a stage when the ball starts to reverse' date=' did he? If we had someone like Sree, we could have potentially used the old ball better :winky:[/quote'] But would Sree have been able to pick up 3 wickets with the new bowl? We are going aorund in circles
zen Posted July 22, 2011 Author Posted July 22, 2011 I am not disagreeing with all this. My simple question is why sree wasn't picked ahead of harby? That way you would genuinely have had more wicket taking options. That's another option too. If I were playing at Lords, I would try to sqeeze in a spinner for variety and for 2nd innings. Day 1 and 2 is more about quicks, when the pitch starts to get roughed up a little, the spinner come in to play. It could have been b/w Ishant or PK but Ishant came from a successful series in WI. So invariable it boilded down b/w PK and Sree, and it was unfortunate to see a better test bowler being left out That's how I would expect Ind to have done its thinking before they went to toss. Now once the cards are laid on the table, you could make it PK vs Ishant/Spinner. Your question is more of a stage 2 question.
zen Posted July 22, 2011 Author Posted July 22, 2011 But would Sree have been able to pick up 3 wickets with the new bowl? We are going aorund in circles Why not? Sree can swing the ball too, no and he can reverse and has more pace. He has the potential to deliver .... And the point is starting out with a better test bowler like Sree than a stock one like PK.

If you genuinely want to have strike bowlers you should have picked Sree comfortably ahead of harby. There is no stage 1 or 2 about it. It is a simple decision which we don't have the gumption to take.
punjabi_khota Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Wrong. Harby won't get a wicket one way or the other. Guest Gunner Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Spoken too soon brather. Lords will help spinners later. :hatsoff: I will be the happiest guy alive if harby will produce a few wickets. I genuinely want him to do well but he just keeps disappointing and hurting everyone who wishes well for him.

It is a simple decision which we don't have the gumption to take. As I said that's an option too. I didn't rule it out! For me there are only two wkt takers in the squad, i.e. Zak and Sree Others are on the same level, i.e. Ishant, PK, Munaf, Bhajji and Mishy. It becomes horses for courses here. As I said, since Ishant came out from a successful tour in WI, I would pick him as the 3rd seamer. Then it comes to 4th position, where I would have to pick b/w PK, Munaf, Bhajji and Mishra. For 2nd innings, I would like to play a spinner and for variety. Now it becomes Bhajji vs Mishy, I would take Bhajji because Mishy didn't do too well in WI in tests. If nothing Bhajji can probably do something with the bat :P If someone like you thinks, we could have played PK over Bhajji, then I would say yeah that could have been an option too. But for me it is a stage 2 question if 3+1 doesn't seem to work at Lords
zen Posted July 22, 2011 Author Posted July 22, 2011 Ball is getting older, Prior hits 50  That's the problem Ind had with the firt ball, i.e. we had no one to use the old ball well and reverse .... hopefully last sesion can produce some wkts

But if our two main bowlers, Bhajji and Ishant, could take even one wicket between them, situation would have been differemt. PK still looks good even with the old ball
NareshK Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 If Sreesanth had played, he would have given 150 runs in 25 overs and he would have picked 0 wickets. No, he is not some deadly wicket taking machine like some people are claiming him to be. He just gets lucky once in a while. Stop trying to undermine the hard work and a great bowling effort by Praveen Kumar just to promote this over rated showman called Sreesanth.
NareshK Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Just as I type this, he gets another wicket. :finger: to haters.
Karan114 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 4-96 against one of the strongest batting line-ups in the world. Not bad

Karan114 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Five-for in his first Test at Lord's, with minimal support from the other bowlers today. Take a bow, Praveen Kumar.

Like it how you make the numbers up :hysterical: And good to know that PK is suppose to be a better test bowler than someone like Sree
SachDan Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 5fer, finds his name in the honours board at Lords on his first test there.. :hatsoff:
King Tendulkar Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I cant believe is continuing to argue. Talk about being stubborn. Mean while the joke gets a fifer and goes on honours board
