zen Posted July 24, 2011 Author Posted July 24, 2011 So you are such a loser that you are even covering all bases by saying that even if Praveen takes a 5 fer again it will be because of the batsmen? There is one thing being wrong, another being a sore loser As for Praveen not looking like providing a breakthrough, which match are you watching again?I see lots of close LBW appeals, balls taking edges and going through the slips. In fact he has looked like taking a wicket each over Yes, because PK doesn't look like producing wkts with the old ball. It will be more because of the batsmen I can understand that you think that he can pick up wkts every over (runs dried = wkts). the point is I don't. I see the batsmen picking him easily and playing easy shots. Again a wkt taking option like Sree is being missed. We need someone to bowl 2 brilliant balls and then clean up the last two
zen Posted July 24, 2011 Author Posted July 24, 2011 Though, in these conditions, I would take PK over Bhajji ..... I like how PK is trying out there :good:
zen Posted July 24, 2011 Author Posted July 24, 2011 100 runs partnership for the 6 th wkt .... First inn Zak spell got waited, 2nd inngs Ishant's PK and Ishant should bowl now, need to end this partnership ...., Bhajji can take a break

Great balls going past the batsmen's defense time after time, even when they are defending = wickets. Which is what Praveen has been doing time after time, bowling wicket taking deliveries, not containing deliveries throughout the match And in the first innings and this innings too he has bowled really well with the old ball too.
Texan Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 And in the first innings and this innings too he has bowled really well with the old ball too. and in WI too.

PK is not as good a test bowler than some of the other seamers We have ( list already given) FULL STOP Watching him bowl, ESP with the old ball, in tests is a pain .... More like a buffet If I remember correctly, you have been posting how expensive Sree would have been (9 for 45) so yeah for you not leaking runs is an imp factor.

He has already delivered whenever asked for with new or old ball In case you missed it: I have been writing all along in this inning that he doest look like picking up wkts and have dismissed his first inning perfo as a flash in the pan, even saying he did not support zak well and only came into play when the 2nd new ball was taken. i Dude, I don't know why I have to write this stuff again and again. It's getting boring! You need to build up on what's being said and imply correctly. Appears as if you are just replying to the last post, while my points are built up on what's said I come here to make my points, if folks want to discuss them that's fine but I can't be repeating them in every post
zen Posted July 24, 2011 Author Posted July 24, 2011 Bowlers for next test: Zak (if fit) Sree Ishant PK / mishra / Bhajji / munaf
CSK Fan Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 In current form IMO Zaheer>Ishant>PK>Sree BTW, there is no way Sree is going to be picked over PK or Ishant in next match

To me he has looked like taking a wicket every over. So either you did not watch the match or are simply lying, even someone like Wasim was very impressed with his bowling

And I wrote that so many times. I didn't feel PK would pick a wkt unless the batsman went after him or played a loose shot .... Repeating this for nth time, still point is not getting across! Let me tell, I m neither a Sree or PK fan. I want the best wkt taking options picked for test. Even in ODIs, I would try to squeeze in a wkt taking bowler and make him go for wkts, this is tests. If you think I m lying, you should NOT bother discussing with me :winky: .... On the other hand, I think you are not a good debater, cannot follow a discussion, keep missing the point but I was good enough to repeat the points so many times Thanks!

If beating the bat repeatedly on defensive shots, close LBW shouts, catches going through slips, doesnt make you think PK looks like taking wickets, then what else can I say except you are deliberately lying? Also doesnt matter what you, "Rett" feels. Get me one other person to agree on this board that PK didnt look threating today or looked threatening only when the batsmen went after him? Do you know more than Wasim? Or all the commentators and each and every other person on this board? I might not be a good debater, bit at least on this thread everyone can see who is trying to be stubborn as a mule and not conceding gracefully despite being proven wrong multiple times

Do you know more than Wasim? Or all the commentators and each and every other person on this board? I might not be a good debater, bit at least on this thread everyone can see who is trying to be stubborn as a mule and not conceding gracefully despite being proven wrong multiple times Since I started watching the game (at around 10 am), I did not see PK bowl impressively. There was a slash that went to the slips but there was no slip, if I remember correctly, which is why the batsman probably played that shot On the other hand, I do think he was trying hard (already mentioned before) but didn't look like picking up wkts. In fact, I was hoping that Ishant comes back and he did provide the breakthrough Eng were 62/5, with Ishant picking up 4 for nothing. Now if PK and Bhajji had done well, Ind could well have bundled out Eng and been in a winning position now considering we are 80/1 I am focusing on key points here: day 1: good bowling conditions, Zak picks up 2 but doesn't get support day 4: Ishant picks up 4, but doesn't get much support On day 2, PK did bowl decently to pick up a few wkts with the new ball. But that's too little to late. We wasted day 1 and picking wkts with the old ball when we were bowling with the first ball in 1st inning. This is where I believe that someone who could bowl quick, swing and reverse could have been more useful. 2 good balls on day 1 and Eng could have been in trouble, 2 good balls with the old ball and Eng would have got much less. The point I am sad about is Ind didn't give it self the options to have someone ball that. Sree would not have picked any wkts for that matter but a team still needs to give itself those option because more often than not a test match gets turned by such bowlers. Otherwise, i.e. when you pick trundlers instead of quicks who can reverse, you have a team get 400+ invariably I am looking at bowlers, who can bowl qucik, swing, reverse, bounce the batsman (at least do 2 things out of those 4). PK can only swing, while someone like Sree can do all 4. Based on those parameters, he did not bowl well. He might have picked up wkts but when a side gets 400+, someone picks some wkts. If those wkts are not going to make an impact, I would rather do that with a bowler who can do at least 2 of those things. Credit to PK for trying hard, getting a 5-er and playing out of his skin though in the first inning. :good: .... So I already said he bowled good for his 5-er. In the 2nd innings, he bowled like what I expected. Nothing special PK is likely to play the next test so lets see how he does. I am sure one 5-er doesn't count as an impressive performance for the whole series, esp if your team cannot capitalize on that.
maniac Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Time to Bump this thread when Binny bowls in England with his tearaway pace :nice:
JaiRamesh2 Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Both Praveen Kumar and Shreesanth turned out to be duds. Hopefully the new stock fare better this England tour.
