Unless some Indian says it, many people won't give weight to what others say. I don't know how does it matter that the person is jealous or something. Maybe we should think about what he said rather than intentions of person saying it.
+1.Even though he could have said it in a different way we cant regect outrightly what he said.We dont look like a number one side now do we?

How the hell can a person from an English speaking country have 'Holding' for a surname?
There was an English cricket by the name Willey. Along with Holding that lead to one of the most memorable moments of sports commentary. "The bowler's Holding, the batsman's Willey" Said by Brian Johnston (I believe)

Ok, for a moment let's forget about WHO made the comments. Now, does that make those comments any more credible? Holding is obviously partial and doesn't have enough knowledge about the specific issues but in general HE IS RIGHT. The IPL has played a part in players getting injured/delaying surgery/postponing rehab. Some of the younger players, absolutely do not have the desire and work ethic to do what it takes. Guys like Raina/Gambhir clearly do. But there are others like RP Singh, Sree, Rohit etc who seem to just coast along. And a lot of the responsibility lies with the BCCI who refuse to correctly manage/time plan player resources/rehab/rest etc.

At present they are saying, "only 2 losses and blah blah.." Soon they'll be saying "Only 4 losses and blah blah.." somewhere they'll be hurting a lot...

Good points. Now I ask you this' date=' does it matter? :winky:[/quote'] No it doesn't. All the talk, criticism etc is worthless because EVERY team has it's ups and downs. Take England for instance, only three/four years ago they were the laughing stock of the world when they were white washed in the ashes down under, Freddie and his Pedalo incident and other nonsense. I mean take Australia. Do they get criticized when someone like Tait openly questions whether he love cricket and then retires from tests? The Indian Team generates a lot of media scrutiny and of course there is a double standard at play here. Holding was almost defending Amir last year when the whole spot fixing controversy occurred. At one point Holding was close to tears on air because he felt so sorry for the "young fast bowler." But with India, clearly the same doesn't apply because we're the WC winners, test 1 and so on. We're supposed to be the best side at all times, anything less and you get clowns like Holding falling over themselves to be critical.

Maybe he is right, but lately everything he says is to drag down BCCI and discredit everything India have achieved. So you can't expect Indian fans to take him seriously at the moment.

It was the same in the ashes when England were on top.

Once he is part of the IPL pie .He will stop saying anything against it .Even though i to feel the current situation of Indian team is because of IPL.

Precisely. As the No.1 team we are expected to be better prepared and play better than this. If you don't why shouldn't others question your ranking and commitment? Which is what holding did here. I simply don't see anything wrong. Now the bigger question, does all this really matter? The question I am implying here is in the long run, does all this mental masturbation over test cricket matter? :winky:

You are wrong. This implies that everyone on the planet is simply motivated by money which I don't believe is either true or correct.

To add to the previous post, there are way too many snide comments such as India have only won because we play on roads. I don't even listen to commentary on Sky Sports, but the odd occasion I've heard it, he's brought it up twice. To respond to your post, come on man its a lot more than just that. You can sense the hate for BCCI and that hate spreads over to the Indian team often

You are watching the end of a 3 year cycle. Half the team is too old to continue and just need to go, this is the reality. However we won't upset the apple cart and will suffer more. So whom would you like to blame now?

Holding further attacked the quality of Indian batsmanship. "If IPL was to be organised in a country like South Africa or Australia, where the ball seams and bounces, the Indians would again crumble. However, if the ball is pitched beneath knee-level, like it is on Indian pitches, they will murder the bowling," said the 57-year-old. :WTF: is he on about? Wasn't IPL 2 held in SAF?

India should cut their losses and throw in the youngsters in the deep end as quick as possible. Reckon Kohli is probably the best of the new generation. Yeah he failed in his 1st seriers, but so did many other players. Heck King Kallis scored 50 odd runs in his first 7 or 8 test innings. It is the nature of Indian cricketers to drag their test careers out, when it is clear thast they are far past it: The Col. , Kumble , Kapil ,Ganguly. But the Indian selectors won't make the diffucult decisions.

Well, I think there is a genuine sentiment of jealousy. WC winners, richest league in IPL, Test number 1 etc. But that's what it means to be number 1, EVERYONE targets you. It happened to the Windies, Aussies, now India and the next number 1.

And what's wrong with that? Apart from VVS/Dravid, no other batsmen has shown they can survive against the swinging ball. On our last tour our makeshift openers in Jaffer/Karthik did a much better job, especially Karthik who completely changed his batting stance and batted forward against the new ball to negate the late swing with a lot of success. Mukund, Gambhir, Raina, Yuvraj, Dhoni haven't come close to doing that. But to be completely fair, England right now, have a very high quality bowling attack among all of their pace bowlers in these conditions. No one else comes close.
