He could have been flown in earlier so that he could have played the warm up games and got used to the conditions. But better late than never. I think Indian bowlers get unfairly judged by how they bowl in Indian conditions which are essentially flat, batting friendly wickets and where there is no swing, seam or bounce.

What's shocking is that team management took 2 weeks to assess nature of his injury when he'd have been straightway replaced after first test itself. Shows how much team is dependent on one player and confidence on our bench strength.

Let him do well in FC cricket first.
Cricket Tragic Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Haha, what a joke. The news today is that he is out for 16 weeks and yet he was named in the squad for the ODI series yesterday. Didn't the management and the selectors know about his fitness 24 hours back?

Again, he probably won't have any match practice. Sad for Zaheer since he has been so good for us but it might force the selectors to finally look beyond him. He isn't someone we can rely on anymore. Yep. He has had a fantastic career overall, second most successful Indian pacer in Tests behind the great Kapil and the leading wicket taker in a victorious World Cup campaign. But clearly his body can't cope any longer (and he will be 33 in a couple of months time), and the Indian team can't be left on tenterhooks like this on every single tour. Time to move on from him.

The jackasses on the selection panel now see the effects of over-reliance and negligence, halfway through a big tour. Let's see the contingency plans they come up with. Long time no see RP..

Time to move on from him. If you look at our history of fast bowlers (feels funny typing this), this is around the age when they finish. Srinath finished at 32 Prabhakar at 32 Kapil played a couple of years more even though he started as a teenager but he was ridiculously fit (and he wasn't great towards the end) Ghavri and Abid Ali at 30-32 Prasad at 31 Going further back, Desai played his last test before he turned 30.
