Raina v Sreesanth

And now the excuses for Sreesanth start coming out. He was injured before, he was tired, too many overs blah blah blah. Sreesanth had one injury this year and all of a sudden he's 77mph trundler! :hysterical: This clown was tweeting right before the series that he was fully fit and ready to bowl 145/150kph. So he was either injured and didn't rehab/work hard enough to gain full fitness. Or he's just a plain liar from his tweets. Either way he doesn't belong in the team.

Its no excuse, its a fact he was injured.ganguly was not supporting him but talking sense he said they have played 30 test yet they do not know how to plan to take wickets.

Time has come now to ask Sreesanth to play the entire domestic season. Don't pick him for the national side and let him bowl a lot of overs on those flat wickets. Has been wrapped in cotton wool for so long. COmes to the national side, plays 2 tests, gets injured, goes through rehab and gets picked for the national side without playing first class cricket. The only way to force him to develop stamina is to not give him those comforts. Gagguly also referred to this when he said Sreesanth needs to be taken out of his comfor t zone. Otherwise the 4-5 years of his career that maybe left would go waste.

I hear you and you have a fair point. But the bowling coach can't force players to practice harder and be more committed. Read this interview of Prasad and it reveals the difficulties in dealing with bowlers that simply don't have the drive to improve themselves: http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/content/story/478229.html And he was absolutely spot on about PK playing in England: And of course he talked about Sree needing to be more disiplined to bowl the off stump line.
if thats the case then the bowlers should be given a hard kick up their backside and make it a requirement to gym and bowl in the nets for certain times... you must say, if you dont do it then you'll be out of the team. they are freaking representing India in a World Sport, cant they use that as a inspiration and motivation to work hard and perform?.. It's not like a Fast Bowler has a LONG career, they just need to give it there best for however long they can maintain. It all comes down to attitude and fitness.. and at the time none of the Indian bowlers seem to have that... apart from PK and maybe Ishant.

They make most of their money from easy, low quality cricket in the IPL so don't really need to exert themselves in tougher forms of the game playing for the country.

Sreeshanth is a man of words. He says all good things while interview and as he gets away from the camera, he forgets everything he talked.

Sreeshanth is a man of words. He says all good things while interview and as he gets away from the camera' date=' he forgets everything he talked.[/quote'] That's pretty much the way I see it too. It's a shame because he does have a lot of natural talent but at this stage he's had three/four professional bowling coaches from Prasad/Donald/Simmons and IPL coaches, so he knows what he needs to do, what gym/net session work he needs to do. But most of all he doesn't take domestic cricket seriously. He hardly bowls for Kerala now anyway. I mean, it's true that I'm not in the man's shoes, but hell, this year he's been acting in movies, starting up a band and touring, constantly tweeting, and making other public appearances. If you have that much time to waste then surely you have enough time to put in the hard yards in the gym/net sessions/domestic cricket? The stupid thing is that he's not some wayward youngster who needs to be shown the way, he's 28 years old and has 6 years of playing cricket around the world. If more experienced players in the squad are like this then what kind of example does that set of aspiring young Indian fast bowlers? I would boot him out of the squad because that's not the kind of example you want to set for other players.

Despite playing cricket for 6 years, he hasn't shown significant improvement. Players grow up as the time passes. They become more mature with experience. But this is not reflected in his bowling. He was talented player earlier and still bowls like a talented rookie. He needs to bowl a lot in domestic cricket. He can't play like this. He has to learn to be consistent through different sessions. This is something which can't be developed simply by playing occasional international matches. If you see he often bowls well in 1 session and pathetic in next 2 sessions. It's similar to lack of temperament among young batsman. He needs to bowl a lot in domestic cricket. On the other hand look at PK. Even though he has many limitations, he bowls continuously with same rhythm unlike Ishant and Sree.

Pack him off to play a full season of county cricket.
Didn't work. I think in 2009/2010 he played for Warwickshire while Donald was the bowling coach/consultant and that's when he remarked about Sreesanth's need to improve/change his work habits and the way he approaches his bowling. Like it's been said, it's up to sreesanth to improve. Changing bowling coaches/formats/environment hasn't had an effect. It's up to him to go back to domestic cricket and prove his form. Based on his history, I doubt that happens though. He seems far to interested/busy in being a poet/dancer/songwriter/musician than be a top domestic cricketer.

Full season. He only played a handful of matches earlier and not a full season.

With his current fitness level' date=' he certainly won't last a season. It will be a reality check for him.[/quote'] We should send him to England so that he can find out that he is an unfit kunt? Isn't it easier to just tell him? :dontknow:
