His selection was an utter ridiculous joke by selectors, his bowling is embarrassing to say the least right now. He has become a gol-gappe ki dukaan. I don't know if there is any desire or passion left in him to play for India. You are a cricketer, an athlete, who may not have been playing for India in recent times but is still representing his state in Indian domestic competition to stake a clam for a national birth again and he looks like he is a sweet maker who has a shop in a narrow street of Lucknow. If they had to pick a left arm pacer and if we had to see this kind of an RP Singh, I can name quite a few left arm pacers in India who could have done better than what he has done. We need bowlers who have passion to bowl, who are proud to play for India, who can run in and bowl their heart out. They may not get many wickets but that will save us for this embarrassment. We do not need bowlers who run and bowl in slow motion. Like selectors called back Irfan Pathan from SA tour in 2006 while Pathan was miles better if you compare him to now RP Singh, why can't they can call him back after this test and send him again where he was holidaying in Miami. I do not see any reason that why he should play ODI series and again put an abysmal show when there is no will to bowl. Giving Singh the opening over of the Test match was an odd decision, which became odder when four of his first six deliveries floated harmlessly down the leg side. It must have been one of the most unthreatening opening overs ever delivered in a Test match. It didn’t get much better. Most balls ambled down at a pedestrian 77mph and plopped off the surface onto the bat with negligible movement. The England openers did well not to be lulled into a false stroke. On Friday Singh’s speed and threat declined further, worn down by the burden of bowling more than four overs in a match, and by the excellence of England’s third-wicket pair. There was barely enough pace for Ian Bell to play his favourite late cut, while Kevin Pietersen chose a more forthright approach, coming down the wicket to him in the latter part of his innings and once pulling him for four off the front foot several strides down the pitch. Are these the best bowlers India can muster? Well, yes they probably are actually. This year’s IPL was littered with moderate Indian medium pacers who had a variety of back of the hand slower balls, useful to restrict slogging batsmen, but little that you would call venomous. There is little strength and conditioning training during an IPL season, it is more of an endurance test. But it has become the focus of a young Indian bowler’s life, and the World Cup is the height of their ambition. When both arrive in quick succession, the pinnacle of a career has been reached. To most Indian players, everything that follows is an anticlimax. Mainly because of the heart shown by Ishant Sharma, India did manage a semblance of competitiveness in the morning session, when only 51 runs were scored for the loss of two wickets. Once Pietersen took the attack to the plain Amit Mishra, India’s game plan of rotating the seamers one end while Mishra kept the other end tight – was scuppered. By the end of the afternoon session, during which England scored 170 runs, Pietersen was treating the seamers like spinners (and Shahid Afridi’s quicker ball is about the pace of Sreesanth or Singh) and Bell was having a glorified net. Friday ended with the bizarre sight of the part-time spinner Suresh Raina bowling at the nightwatchman Jimmy Anderson. Never would a nightwatchman have been more eager to strap on his pads. That is why, why should we see him bowling for India in a test match again? and he will know it when IPL franchise will kick him out if he does nut pull his socks up. There are lot of talent in India to replace him if he performs like that.

Whoever decided that he is match fit for tests deserves a kick up the backside as ell. A look at his waistline and the double chin should have been a good enough indicator of his fitness. Yet someone (most probably MSD) thought he was ready to play international cricket. Pathetic. As I said in a new thread a few days ago, we urgently need new set of seamers for the ODIs or else we will get a 5-0 thumping in ODIs too.

Yes..rookies have always done good for us on overseas tour. There are so many examples. They many not have become something in future, but when they played initially, they did well. But these experience bowlers have become complacent and lazy. The cheap money effect is already showing its colors.

Dont think RP Singh will be recalled.ODIs are a different story as the containment aspect also comes into play.So a Munaf becomes your frontline bowler ahead of shree or even Ishanth,But his bowling doesnt give me any confidence.

This selection committee has made a joke of Indian team. BCCI should fire these selectors asap. Playing RP Singh was worst decision I have ever seen in recent past. Just goes to how serious selectors are towards test cricket or even the team. No player would get chance to play even college level cricket if he has been out of touch for months. How can RP Singh get chance to represent India on the toughest tour? This is ridiculous. I feel like slapping those people who sent him to England. Is this a joke? There are at least 5 decent pacers who are fit and working hard to get chance for just 1 test. They have been cheated.
