Yo body building brahs, any recommendations? I wanna start having a protein shake instead of dinner for the next few months to cut back on weight which I have gained in the last few months. Please suggest names, sources etc. Cheers.

Ok I have been trying to loose some weight since my last holiday. This craze came when i saw people with six packs on beach and my tummy was visble even when i was waering a tshirt. I have actually lost over 4 kgs in last one and half month (and now within top part of recommended BMI range) Now I do one hour swimming (4-5 times a week). One hour walk (3-4 times a week) and 30 mins weight training twice per week. Try to build back muscel and thigh muscels too( I will start it next month, logic is they are bigger hence will impact more in your fat burning effort) I didnt do any dieting instead used protien shake when ever i did weights or felt real sore muscels. Major change in my diet. Gave up caramel tea, latte Have made it a rule that I will eat vegetables salad, fruits, oats.soaked chik peas, green peas and skimmed milk, boiled egg in day time. I am eating them all day as I my appetite has increased. No change to my Indian dinner except I eat a fruit before i start eating tastyu desi dinner. Advantage: 1. Insulin level remains low as you dont eat a lot of food alltogether hence Body generally do not release a lot of insulin and do not go into fat storage mode. 2. Skimmed milk increases fat pecntage in your poo.. And you poo more as you eat a lot of raw vegetable. 3. You feel fitter and stronger. Caution: Protien is not easily digestible it impacts your kidney harder then other stuff. Drink a lot of water to negate it.

If your goal is replacing dinner for weight loss purpose. Then chuck the protein shake....and replace it with some fat+protein+green veggie meal. (Just make sure - no sugar, rice, bread.. i.e. no carbs - except the few gms that come with green veggies.) Take any meat - preferably red meat ..or chicken, fish, or even eggs.. eat with green vegetables. If interested, I can point you to tonnes of recipes.

I was thinking of having this for lunch and the protein shake for dinner.

Mishraji, thanks a lot for the detailed post. Appreciate it very much. I have a fair idea about the protein + fibre diet, I used to eat that way most of the time. However somewhere along the line about 7-8 months ago I stopped focussing on my diet and ended up adding kilos. So I am just reverting back to my earlier diet, one of the ideas was to get rid of dinner and have protein shakes with milk.

I find it surprising when I see people trying to lose weight. No matter how much I eat, I dont seem to put on any weight. But when I was a kid I was one of those fat ****ers whom everyone used to make fun of.

Go vegetarian for a few months. You'll see the difference. I am no body building wizard...i am just as lazy for exercising as any other guy.
Ya may not be a bad idea at all. I will keep that in mind. The same with the exercise thingy, I have a lazy ass.
