glogirl Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 it's been 46 hours since I've last slept, moreover i could sleep only 3 hrs to the maximum each day. i know its weird i should consult a doctor. one thing that i couldn't get is a good sleep.
Serani Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 At least one day a week I will have severe trouble sleeping, for instance friday night/sat morning I couldnt sleep till 8 AM and had cricket a few hours later, so had about half an hours sleep which is not ideal prepartation. I tend to never feel tired even after a long day of cricket or heavy gym session, the only time I feel sleepy is after a few pints of beer and I can just doze off. Although not sleeping in 46 hours is a bit extreme, I would consult a doctor for sure.
Anonymous Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Physical exercise or Yoga/meditation will definitely help. Working out puts me to sleep instantly :agree:
Trichromatic Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Do you try to sleep and still can't sleep? Maybe you need to change some basic habits. For ex - wash your face half an hour before sleeping and change your bed. :P If problem still persists then you should consult doctor. I have got advice to consult doctor many times in last 4 years. I didn't have problems with sleeping, but everyday I would sleep for 2-3 hours and never had any problems because of that. At that time I used to stay at university hostel. Now when I'm back to home, I easily sleep for 6-7 hours.
punjabi_khota Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Sorry to use the internet cliche again, but brah you need to get laid. I say brah cuz there aint no girls on the internet. So I assume you are a brah.
asterix Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Try taking warm bath before going to bed (if you are already not doing this)..Bascally it relaxes your body and mind. Try reading some books while on bed.. Try not to watch too much WWE.. :D:
Cricket Tragic Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Yeah, I've had massive problems for many years. I take sleeping pills every night and have done for a while. I got used to sleeping only 4 hours a night on average for many years. Often I'd not sleep at all because of work. This led to problems where I couldn't get sleep even on weekends. I would be dead tired but still struggle to sleep.
rahulrulezz Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Used to have this problem till 4 years back in first 2 years of my uni...but then I started workign out.. With office work and gym now, I sleep like a baby!!

gaurav92 Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Watch Chaders batting preferably in the recently concluded series.
Ram Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 No sleep in 46 hours! I'd be a zombie if it were me! :omg: This aint rocket-science, but if you expend enough energy during the day, you're bound to get reasonable sleep during the night. Our bodies react purely on a need basis. If it needs rest and recuperation, it will take it from you, no matter how hard you try to not give it that. Plus, it helps to have a calm, restful state of mind as well (Easier said than done of course).
ganeshran Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 You should show it to a doctor if its a recurring problem... Did you have too much of coffee by any chance?
akshayxyz Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 There was a time when even big shot of coffee couldn't keep me awake. But now my sleep cycle is all messed up. For over a year, I end up staying awake til 5-6 am (sometimes even 9-10 am). But then at the end I manage to sleep. And when I do, I make sure to mute all the sound making devices - phones, alarm clock, door bell etc. Also, sometimes when I became conscious of lack-of-sleep, I would just drink so much that I have no option but to crash - but that is something you can't do on daily basis. But if one drink can help you sleep, you can do that regularly. Luckily for last week or so, I am able to sleep by 2-4 am - except for some breaks due to some other issues. What have I changed - nothing much, still trying to figure out - what works what not.
akshayxyz Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 One thing you can try is - just do not even try to sleep during day, or at odd hours.. and make sure you stay in the bed at your intended sleep times (night time that is) - regardless of whether you are feeling sleepy or not. Also, during 1 hour leading upto bed time - do not use tv/laptop/pc. Better pick a book. I have noticed that - if I am watching tv or am working on laptop - then many times I end up missing that moment - when I could have dozed off easily. And yes - see a doctor - may be it is just a symptom of some other medical condition.
