Septimius Severus Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 What do you mean by b4 this series? Isn't he still best captain in terms of win % or W/L ratio even after this series? Cutoff at 25 tests: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/records/283746.html To answer your question, No he isn't. not even close.

Trichromatic Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Cutoff at 25 tests: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/records/283746.html To answer your question, No he isn't. not even close. At least read my post and check what did I reply for before reaching any conclusion. He is still the best Indian captain in terms of % win and W/L ratio. If you don't have time to read 1 post properly then please don't reply.
Cricket Tragic Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Best W/L ratio for captains from all countries. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;groupby=captains;orderby=win_loss_ratio;qualmin1=10;qualval1=matches;template=results;type=team
Fontaine Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Yes, it's Dhoni's fault that none of our batsmen except for Dravid could handle the new ball and our bowlers apart from Ishant were unfit and unprepared to just awful. Anyone wonder how Strauss would have done with a bowling attack of RP/Sree/Ishant/Mishra-Bhajji?
Sidhoni Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Best W/L ratio for captains from all countries. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;groupby=captains;orderby=win_loss_ratio;qualmin1=10;qualval1=matches;template=results;type=team Dhoni was 2nd on that list b4 this series.
Lord Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Dhoni as a test captain maybe its the right time to relieve him of some of his duties.the workload is just not fair on him. earlier we were sceptical as results were there, but this should be a wake-up call.this result is just an aftermath of that hes awesome captain in ODIs,taking risks n making big decisions(like coming ahead of UV in WC finals) but in tests I feel he goes on a defensive too early n plays the waiting game.our batsman were making runs earlier n Zak was there to take wickets.this series was he really tested. b4 posters start attacking me,this is not a criticism of his captaincy.I know things were hard for him.its more about the workload.even commentators mentioned that WKs sholdnt be captains as its too draining.England have 3 different captains n results are there.
saneindian Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 And make whom the test captain? Gambhir who has missed more games off late than he's played or Sehwag who like Gauti has missed so many games?
Rahul Dravid Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 there is really no replacement right now.. so this is not gonna happen... atleast not for the next 1 year.
