The Realist Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Think it may be time for Dhoni to step down from captaining the team in tests. Not only is his batting far too hit and miss, but his field placings often defy all logic and his overall captaincy is just too defensive and lacking in ideas. Too often he seems disinterested and fails to gee up the team especially when things are not going well. It may be time for some fresh thinking and DhoniÃÔ cycle may well have come to a natural end. Your thoughts.
Ultimate_Game Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Whom would you have replace him? I would keep Dhoni till the Aussie series and make a call after that.

james Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Groom Kohli, Dhoni has prooved he is not a test player nor a test captain.
WC2011INDIA Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Groom Kohli' date=' Dhoni has prooved he is not a test player nor a test captain.[/quote'] Kohli aint a test player too. Oh and the guy obviously has some attitude issues so I don't want him to be the captain. We need someone completely unexpected.
ganeshran Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 It is Dhoni's first series loss. Too early to make judgement
Guest Gunner Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Give Gambhir the captaincy if you have to give it to someone else.
Yoda-esque Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Voice of Reason missing.Too early to make a call.

WC2011INDIA Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Somebody who not too IPL' date=' Advertisement, showbiz focussed..Only focussed in the best form of cricket.. Test cricket.. Is then any Indian player out there?[/quote'] No clue. Pujara? But he is always getting injured.
Number Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Rubbish captaincy throughout the series, the moment Zak got injured he was totally defensive. You just hit 2 fours and he will put all the fielders on the boundaries ,then you can bat all day. Our bowling has been dismal but moronic captaincy made it look like worst. I am not saying he should be dropped but there is no way he will be there for long time if it continues like this.
J P K Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 what are the options we have gambhir (gets some injury or other for every 30 mins but has excellent relationship with bowlers delhi mates ishant and mishra ) sehwag (keeps getting injured also lost respect from everyone by playing ipl and getting unfit for intl matches dravid -old sachin- not interested laxman-old
vvvslaxman Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 No clue. Pujara? But he is always getting injured. He has so much injuries that he can't even play IPL :cantstop:
asterix Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 ^ Gambhir & Viru are Advertisement, IPL, Showbiz focussed.. Can't be relied upon..
WC2011INDIA Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 ^ Gambhir & Viru are Advertisement' date=' IPL, Showbiz focussed.. Can't be relied upon..[/quote'] Agreed. Like I said we need a player who hasn't played much in IPL, but is good at test cricket and ODIs. Anyone?
james Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Kohli in time will be a great test player, and with his attitude he will be more aggressive than Dhoni and co. from what i have seen he also looks the type who doesn't accept losing or would settle for a draw.
yoda Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Agreed. Like I said we need a player who hasn't played much in IPL, but is good at test cricket and ODIs. Anyone? RD
saneindian Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 TINA factor will see him being there. Gauti and Sehwag have been injured far too frequently in recent times, rest are either too young or too old.
