What was the turning point in the Test series?

to me, it's dhoni's dismissal in the first innings of the second match. had he put up a decent partnership with dravid, india could have well gone on to win that match. momentum can be such a funny thing you know, india could have ended the series with a 2-1 scoreline...

after we recalled bell, you could see team lost its fighting spirit we could have them for 167-5 but it just was a shocking decison and series turning one

1. Zaheer's injury 2. India allowing England to score 221 after having them 120/8 in the 1st innings in the 2nd Test. 3. India collapsing in 1st innings of the 2nd Test with 6 wkts falling for 4 or 5 runs whn they were in a position to have a huge lead over England. After point 3, it was all one-way and I don't think anyone else than Dravid even cared about the series.

I agree with this above.. they had been mentally destroyed after point 3...Need to be a million times tougher in the head and fight..... Shame, it would have been better to win the toss with tests 3 and 4...Just everything against us :(

no no no no there were 2 turning points 1) not batting out the last day at lords 2) being 4 down at TB and 45 ahead, and losing our last 6 for nothing i was at every day of this test series, and u could see how pumped england were after these 2 events england getting 224 from 124/8 at TB wasnt a turning point, it was actually a blessing for india because indai would have lost 4 or 5 that evening had they batted longer

yeah zaheer's injury was a major set back as well. i don't consider broad's innings/9th wicket partnership in the 1st innings of the second test as a turning point coz even after that, india were in a huge position of advantage due to dravid's ton. but dhoni's careless shot sparked a collapse and india never recovered for the whole series. bell's recall, well, game was gone from india at that point anyway...

How game was gone we could have had engh for 167 for 5 make it six with trott injured

Bell was already on 137 when that incident happened and he only went on to add 22 more. By that time the match was already out of our hands and wasn't exactly a turning point.

Yup, but the horse had already bolted by then. It was a "damage limitation" exercise by that time and the end result wasn't in doubt. India had already given up by that time and probably that was the reason they recalled Bell.

RD dropping Trott off the first ball of the series for Bhajji in the 1st session of the Lord's test :(( England would have been 39/2, Bhajji would have got an early wicket and may have turned up as a different bowler afterwards, Zak would have got some rest.. :((

Zaheer's injury on day one. At that point I knew the series was gone because of our excessive reliance on him (but I didn't imagine in my worst nightmare that we would be handed the mother of thrashings over the subsequent month).

Dhoni bowling on the 1st day of the 1st test,That was half the surrender as Test cricket is a mental game and that was mental surrender right there....From that moment on the team never looked the same.
