SachDan Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Not surprisingly filled with Poms and south Africans.. Sachin makes the team third year in a row! Alastair Cook (Eng) Hashim Amla (SA) Jonathan Trott (Eng) Sachin Tendulkar (Ind) Kumar Sangakkara (SL - wicketkeeper/captain) AB de Villiers (SA) Jacques Kallis (SA) Stuart Broad (Eng) Graeme Swann (Eng) Dale Steyn (SA) James Anderson (Eng) Zaheer Khan (Ind) (12th man)
CG Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Is the english series included in the cutoff period?
Cricket Tragic Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 SA didn't play much, did they? I'd have Bell in there to replace one of the SA players (not Kallis). Broad shouldn't be there. This isn't a team for 1 series.
Cricket Tragic Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Is the english series included in the cutoff period? Only 1 test I think (or might be 2).
Trichromatic Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 4th year in a row for Steyn. Only world class bowler who can become great of the game at this time.
CG Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Only 1 test I think (or might be 2). Then why broad?
Cricket Tragic Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Only world class bowler who can become great of the game at this time. Absolutely. I just hope he remains fit.
Cricket Tragic Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Then why broad? Yeah, he shouldn't be there.
SachDan Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 Then why broad? 2 tests, took 15 wickets! still a contentious selection..
Raghav_12 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I haven't looked at exact numbers for the period considered, but I thought that VVS would have an outside chance for this team. More because of the quality of runs that he scored in last one year (but might have missed on the quantity of runs). In general I don't think question marks can be raised against inclusion of any of the players other than Junior Broad. (I am sure Gavaskar would have attributed that to Broad senior being match referee:--D)

Its shocking nowonder some poms were in the panel.:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
Trichromatic Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Chris Tremlett and Zaheer Khan had better record for that period. Is Broad as an all-rounder in the team? I guess that's the only reason. 462 runs at an avg of 42 and 36 wickets at an avg of 26.

Raghav_12 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Only Durban was included. Mohali was also there in that time period. But may be being an Indian I am attaching more (sentimental) value to those 73 runs :cantstop:. Overall I can't complain about him not being included.
rkt.india Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 when Sanga does not even keep in tests then why he is written as keeper there.
CG Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 4th year in a row for Steyn. I like him,But if you had to have broad as allrounder then i have to say this year steyn did not deserve it,he played only 5 tests and got hammered in abu dhabi avergaing close to 50 against pak,did well against india in home series taking wickets at 17 .but stil zak did well allround allthough he played 7 tests ,but zak took more wickets and averaged better .
Raghav_12 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Nothing wrong with the team at all..A perfect list going by some of their performances ion the last 2 years.....Expect Dravid' date='Bell to sneak in in next years's list replacing maybe SRT,AB devillers/Trott(If he is unfit for most of the upcoming season)[/quote'] You are making predictions for 12 months based on the data of 1 month!! Don't write-off SRT that easily. India has to play lot of test cricket in coming few months.
CG Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Mohali was also there in that time period. But may be being an Indian I am attaching more (sentimental) value to those 73 runs :cantstop:. Overall I can't complain about him not being included. He deserves to be in the team each knock he played was under pressure and he came up with match winning knocks with all respect to de villiers he scored runs on flat tracks where matches were drawn ,if you want a guy to come at no 6 then i would take laxman
