SKY is not that bad' date=' has better footwork. From Sehwag mold I meant plays aggressive but he has better footwork and also plays short ball better and has better leg side shots. Sehwag has one shot cut through point most of the time. SKY has shots all around. He has already scored at an average of 68 and SR of over 80 in Ranji trophy. [b']Sehwag was not that good when first came. Yadav is a confident young man, rather too confident which he showed even in CL T20 where he played 2 important knocks for MI without much exposure. He is still only 21. He just played too many shots today.

Sehwag in his first 3 domestic seasons 11 matches, 979 runs@58, 3 100s, 163 highest 12 matches, 1008 runs@59, 3 100s, 274 highest 10 matches, 757 runs@58, 3 100s, 162* highest Was scoring these runs at a SR of 70+. If anything he should have made his test debut much before he finally did in late 2001.

I am not talking about FC cricket. I am talking about when I first saw him in ODIs against Australia. He was talked about a lot as how aggressive he plays and there was some hype surrounding him in news papers but initially he did not look that comfortable against fast bowling that may be because he rarely played good pacy fast bowlers at FC level but then as he played more at the international level he got better facing fast bowlers. Later, he himself admitted it that he had self-doubts facing genuine fast bowlers but he practiced it in the nets and faced pacers from shorter distances with synthetic balls which paid off for him.

He can play of his pads but he is not that good that is why he struggled in initial matches in recent ODI series against WI as Roach and Russell both were bringing the ball back into Sehwag and he was constantly trying to play them through off side.

Still remember the only ODI he played against the Aussies at Bangalore. He blasted Mcgrath and Fleming, made 60 odd in 50 balls, think he ended up as the man of the match but while bowling injured his thumb and missed rest of the ODIs.

He debuted against Pakistan and did not have the best of the start then. Most people at that time had never thought that Sehwag could go that far and achieve the things he has achieved in both forms of cricket that is why people should never written of any young player till he is young enough to improve and do well like Ganeshran said about SKY that he wont be successful. You do not make so many runs in a season with that average and SR without talent even against worst bowling attack. You must have something in you to do that. I said before that Sehwag is the exception not the norm when it comes to batting without proper footwork. And just because Sehwag did very well without having great technique, doesnt mean every young player will do the same. Yadav doesnt have the batting goods in him to make it at the highest level - its pretty evident when you see him bat.

The match is far from over. Shah, Pawar and Kulkarni are all better batsmen than Yo Mahesh. A couple of partnerships will frustrate TN and from there on, Mumbai can go on to win. :nervous:

Yadav doesnt have the batting goods in him to make it at the highest level - its pretty evident when you see him bat.[/quote'] Yaar there are so many players who did not have much footwork but still successful, not only Sehwag, Adam Gilchrist is one just stand and deliver, Chris Gayle is another stand and deliver, Graham Smith another no footwork batsman, Steve Waugh no footwork. Footwork matters, but it is hand-eye coordination which is needed most with temperament. I am not saying every young player can emulate these players, but Yadav looks to have that confidence and nonchalance whenever he bats, very uncomplicated. He was treating the ball on its merit but was hitting 4s even on half decent deliveries and players like these are bound to come every now and then who can make even good deliveries look ordinary. He has a long way to go still and would need to perform like this fro 2 more seasons at least and play well even on A tours. Many people had written off Sehwag initially as well but you never know.
