Tendulkar's toe injury flares up, to meet surgeon Chester-Le-Street, Sep 3 (PTI) The Indian cricket team's injury woes were today compounded with senior batsman Sachin Tendulkar forced to sit out of the opening one-dayer against England here due to a toe injury. Tendulkar has been carrying this injury for quite a while but the problem aggravated before the opener of the five-match series. The 38-year-old Tendulkar will meet a surgeon, either tomorrow or on Monday, before a final call is taken on his avalaibility for the series, according to team sources. The batting maestro, who is just one short of completing the incredible milestone of 100 international centuries, may have to wait just a little longer with this latest injury. It has been a wretched tour so far for India, who lost the Test series 0-4 before being handed a defeat in the lone Twenty20 match as well.

It is a BS excuse. I bet 100 bucks that these supposedly injured players will be playing in Champions League.
Well, I have suspicions about his supposed injury. In the first test match, he was apparently not well. That was told after he failed to contribute much. Now, he is injured all of a sudden in the first ODI. I say it is complete BS excuse. He is mentally not ready to play yet.

Agree.. its a BS excuse .. he will be all fit and raring to go in CL T20 .. Bharat Ratna .. dream on .. The most hyped but useless player we have ever produced ...

WTF. He is the best player we have produced. I am just pissed off that he has hardly done anything of note in this series and now has injured himself. I am just having such a hard time believing that all these players are getting injured just when CL is around the corner.

Dream on .. There r way better players than sachin which we have produced .. As I wrote .. he is just the most hyped player .. hungry for money and don't give a damn abt country .. he is only content with his personal milestones .. Can't handle pressure .. Selected club over country.. not once but twice .. If a player after playing 20 years still get nervous in nineties .. it does tell u tht how much he values the records and personal milestones .. if u don't wanna see the fact then its another thing ..

if you are a sample of an Indian fan then I am extremely glad we have lost the number one ranking. Fans such as you do not deserve to be the fans of a campion team. Your mentality is like a kid who needs a candy every hour and on the one occasion when you dont get it, you throw all your toys out and lash at the nearest person A person who missed only one match when his father died and then came back to score a century in the next one doesnt give a damn about his country? a person who scored a great 100 with a broken back but cried like a baby because his team lost in Chennai (even though he was being praised sky high) doesnt give a damn about his country? A person who has the highest 50 to 100 conversion rate in the world is nervous in his nineties? How do you live with yourself? I know its not about Sachin or any other player. Its that you cannot handle losses like a man. Sachin Tendulkar deservers criticism for not scoring or not being fit as much as any other player. Actually more since he is considered the best and the team needs him. But when someone starts personal attacks on a player and calls him greedy, etc, then the players sure dont deserve a fan like you. Its not about Sachin, you just need a target because you cannot handle the frusturation of losing and he is an obvious one because of his stature

Not worth explaining to someone who talks about Sachin in a typical Paki Tone. If Sachin isnt a team man, then one1 else is . If Sachin doesnt care for the country , then nobody else does either . Sachin must cross the journey from 90 to 100 with a six and four in space of 2 balls everytime to prove that he doesnt get nervous in the 90s but even that wont be enough to change the opinions of some insignificant Fools/Pakis/Blind haters.
