Are the indian selectors stupid or they really feel players like badrinath,vinay kumar are our future players?

The selection was mind boggling at times, Badrinath and vinay kumar are close to 30s and both of them are medicore players at the international level. Do we lack talent in our country to select players like vinay, badri, jadeja or the selectors are just stupid?. Do the selectors think they are our future players are what? Wht abt mr. dhoni? We have varun aaron in the team and after the 2nd odi dhoni was saying that the bowlers played today lack pace and dont threaten the opposition. I mean u have a bowler who can bowl at pace, but instead of selecting him he gives excuses that the bowlers played in the 2nd odi were not quick and lack penetration. This just makes me sick...(:((

I don't think our selectors think much about future. I feel they don't even closely follow these domestic games as well. Just look at the stats and select the players.

I doubt that. If they had looked stats then Rahane would have been in test side by now. He averages 67 in FC cricket.

I meant they don't really follow FC games. Otherwise Rahane is technically much better than other youngsters , still he wasn't getting chance. Vinay Kumar because of FC avg makes it to national team and after watching 2 internationals , easy to write off.

i think that has to do with the fact that dozens of indian batsmen average over 50 in fast class cricket thanks to crap bowling and flat pitch.. but they dont do well in tests but i think rahane will do well in tests if given a chance.

That's really bad. Look at the batsman averages. 50+ is common. Look at bowlers. Those who are getting selected have averages around 27-28. :omg: That's absolute rubbish. I don't care about batting averages, but best bowlers should average in low 20s at least at FC level. If they are averaging 30 in domestic cricket then what to expect from them at international cricket. Pitches must be highways at domestic level. It doesn't help anyone. Batsman don't get tough conditions to learn and bowlers can't develop much skills. Look at Kumble. His bowling average in domestic cricket is around 22. For most of the countries, bowlers don't average so high.

That shouldn't be surprising. It's not new for "talentless bowlers" to take wickets in FC cricket. It's gets bad when better players are far behind craps. If pitches are made little bit favorable for bowlers, then good bowlers will easily put themselves ahead of Vinay Kumars.

Batsmen are bad.. but when batsmen score we say bowlers are bad so easy to score.. In theory everyone is bad :cantstop: . Jokes apart standard of umpiring and pitches are well below par in domestic cricket. There is no more competitive first class cricket apart from odd performance like Manish Pandey's valiant century in Ranji final, Yusuf's pathan mind boggling double century while chasing 500 plus. It is high time we give top priority to first class cricket ahead of every other format including ODIs.

Timing is important. That thread was started just after he made an 80 at the Oval. You should know how most Indian fans are. Their opinions change every day (sometimes several times a day). If the same question was asked a couple of days before, the result would have been very different.
