I think he is taking a big risk especially because the subject of his yatra is anti-corruption Your thoughts... Some time between now and the start of the winter session of Parliament, veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani will once again undertake a ÃÚatra and traverse all across the country to raise awareness against corruption. Ū will undertake a ÃÚatra against corruption. The details are being worked out. Adhyakshji [Nitin Gadkari] has agreed, Mr. Advani, flanked by the two leaders of Opposition Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, announced at a press conference here on Thursday. He was immediately asked whether this signalled that he would be his party's Prime Ministerial candidate during the next Lok Sabha election. Mr. Advani replied: ÅÑhir wahi ghisi piti baat [you are again on the same old subject]. Did he think that a mid-term election was possible? Mr. Advani repeated what he recently said in Nellore, but stopped short of asking for an early election, which he had done in Nellore. Ū said a few days ago this government's legitimacy is over. The government may not think that, but I do believe the government's mandate is exhausted. The ÃÚatra would be Ã…ÃŽore or less like the earlier ones. It would be against corruption and focus on clean politics, he said. When a reporter asked him whether he intended to go through Bellary during his ÃÚatra? his response was that it was a suggestion. Would Mr. Advani invite Anna Hazare to join the ÃÚatra? In response, he simply folded his hands as if to say ÃÆxcuse me? On the proposed `yatra' RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav said ÅÂll affiliates of the RSS have already been asked to actively participate in all anti-corruption campaigns, as we did in the Anna Hazare-led movement. The last ÃÓath-yatra undertaken by the 84-year-old BJP leader was the öday Yatra in March-April 2004 ahead of the election that year. At that time, he was master of the BJP party machine, unlike this time when Nitin Gadkari is in the saddle as party president. His most famous one was the `Ram rath yatra' from Somnath to Ayodhya in 1990 cut short at Samastipur by Lalu Prasad who arrested him. The BJP then withdrew support to the V.P. Singh government leading to its fall and a fresh election.

They have been looting Bellary for years and BJP came to power in Karnataka only by this illegal money. Even when Janardhan reddy is arrested by CBI, these BJP goondas in Bellary went on rampage and destroyed public properties. On what moral ground, Advani is going on Yatra?

The current uprising is because of politicians and no politicians were allowed to take over the stage by the public. At this time, with this mood if a political party rallies around for anti-corruption they might get a cold shoulder from the public which would mean the ruling party will get back on even keel. Agree with ur bf, they can do a great lot by expelling Reddys from BJP and distancing from Yeddy and all others caught in corruption.

It is the collective decision of BJP core committee to cash in on anti-corruption wave and use Advani as an anti-corruption crusader so that they can get anti-incumbency votes in 2014 elections. It has nothing to do with his age. As far as age is criteria, we have seen a 75 year old man not long ago who fasted for 11 days and successfully lead an anti-corruption movement.

He has agreed to this plan. Hence the jibes at him. I know exactly what will happen. This will unite all the "secular forces" & "social forces" (including NDA partners like JD{U} etc.). It'll be easy to blame the "anti-corruption" campaign as "RSS/Anti-Dalit/Anti-Minority plan".. And BJP will get another kick at the back in the next elections.. PS: The Dalits/Maha Dalits/Backward classes people don't consider Corruption as a major issue. Most of them who have become influential (through reservations etc.) actually think that being corrupt is their right as by this way they are coming 'at par' with upper casts, something which has been 'denied' to them..

People are fed up with the government and if there is any election the voting would be against Congress and BJP being the second largest party would have been the beneficiary but by this Rath Yatra and all ye phir kutch logon ke purane jakhmo ko kuredenge who were slowly shifting towards BJP. This whole move will only backfire.

This whole move will only backfire. Absolutely. There is a famous saying - "dont disturb your enemy when they are making mistakes". Congress was taking the blow and BJP should not have disturbed that. By trying to politicize the whole thing, BJP just earned the public's anger. They should have released statements supporting Anna and left it at that.
