King Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Jacques Kallis believes Vernon Philander has the ability to replace Shaun Pollock after seeing the pace-bowling all-rounder take four wickets on his one-day international debut. More...
SachDan Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Bump. More than four years old thread with zero reply :punter: Three 5-fers in two and a half tests. What a great start to test career albeit under bowling friendly conditions !!
panther Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 he has very good line and length sa might have finally found there third world class seamer
cowboysfan Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I think he can bowl reasonably well in the sub continent, his seam position is excellent.
saneindian Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 He could be one of SA's superstars when they go to NZ and England next year. One of the most improved players in the world. When he started his int'l career, looked like a bits and pieces player but what a transformation in the last 2-3 years.
ganeshran Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 IMO He seems more in McGrath mould. Lets see if he is able to sustain his very impressive start to his international career
Karan114 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I think he can bowl reasonably well in the sub continent' date='his seam position is excellent.[/quote']
achilles Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I think it was/is rather premature for Kallis to liken Philander to Pollock. Let him settle down.
kabira Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 He has been bowling on helpful wickets...let him bowl on not so helpful wickets and they we should judge.
SachDan Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Feel sorry for Ganesh, shouldn't have bumped this one considering the number of posts he had to manage :(
Stuge Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 he is bowling really well right now .he and styen can become lethal combination .
coffee_rules Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Let him tour abroad before we proclaim anything. Apne gali mein sab sher hain. Even Vinay Kumar gets wickets at home.
urbestfriend Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I thought tsotsobe is decent but this guy seems to be better!
kabira Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I think it was/is rather premature for Kallis to liken Philander to Pollock. Let him settle down. that was 4 years ago..LOL how is that premature.
Karan114 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I thought tsotsobe is decent but this guy seems to be better! Tsotsobe is a fine ODI bowler but rubbish in Tests
achilles Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 that was 4 years ago..LOL how is that premature. Coz it took 4 years for Philander to give a noteworthy performance. Duh!
kabira Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Duh!!!.. He said he has ability...lot of ppl have abilities....in 2007 he said that...the guy got a big break this year...and he showed he does have ability.
achilles Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 The point is that Kallis was jumping the gun clearly. The fact that it took 4 yrs proves it. Its like Dhoni calling Raina the best Test batman in the line up. Ability is a good thing. But performance is better.
kabira Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 ^and how many test matches did he play in those 4 years???
