Stuart Broad likely to skip India tour for sore shoulder More... STUART BROAD LIKELY TO SKIP INDIA TOUR FOR SORE SHOULDER CRICKET NEWS UPDATE Posted By: John Shary Stuart Broad, the ace English pacer and skipper of the Twenty20 wing, is likely to miss Team EnglandÃÔ upcoming tour to India as his shoulder injury will not permit him to bowl for the next two months. However, the youngster is hopeful of returning to the ring against Pakistan, later this year. Broad is not happy with this fateful situation as he wants to continue playing, rather than being a spectator. The lanky pacer has revealed that his aching muscle will take at least two months to recover, but he believes that his ouster from the India series is still not cent percent sure. Talking to the media, Broad said, ŵhe shoulder is still quite sore. It's a two-month injury so I'm concentrating on making sure I am in the best possible shape for the games against Pakistan in January. It's not 100% confirmed I'll not play in India but I'll only play if the rehab goes fantastically well. However, Broady is pleased to have learnt that he is not going to undergo any surgery. He told, Ūt's good news that I don't need surgery. There is always an extra risk with surgery so that would be a worry. The fast bowler was injured during the Poms fourth home ODI against India, on September 11 at LordÃÔ, subsequently having to sit out the final One Dayer and two subsequent T20Is against West Indies. In the absence of Broad, the specialist English spinner, Graeme Swann, is going to lead the team in the 1st T20I against West Indies today, September 23 at The Oval. The English are scheduled to visit India in October this year to play 5 ODIs and a one-off T20I, which are expected to test the true mettle of the Poms. Broad performed very well during the 4-Test npower series against the Men in Blue, earning himself the îan of the Series award. The 25-year-old has played 41 Test, 84 ODI and 31 T20I games since his International debut in 2006.

Flower positive over India tour England team director Andy Flower says his side should take confidence from this summer as they look ahead to touring India. More... Andy Flower says England can be confident ahead of their trip to India Sunday, 25 September 2011 Flower wants a mixture of youth and experience for the India tour Andy Flower feels England can take confidence from their performances this summer when they go to the sub-continent next month. The selectors will meet on Monday to finalise their squad for the one-day series against India. Team director Flower said: "When you know you can beat someone and they know it as well, it helps. "There's nothing mysterious out there but we'll have to bat well against spin and deal with reverse swing." England beat Sri Lanka and India in Test and one-day series this summer, with the only blot being a Twenty20 thrashing by Sri Lanka and Sunday's disappointing loss to the West Indies as that T20 series ended 1-1. Reflecting on the England players' recent home performances, he added: "They can look back on this summer with a lot of pride. India will be a really good challenge. "It's nice to see the youngsters grab their chances, the second West Indies game excepted. We've exposed a number of our players to leadership opportunities and they've responded really well." Talking about the selection meeting, Flower said: "We want to get a mix of youth and experience. Some people will be more adept at playing spin than others and that might give them the edge for selection."

Pace cupboard bare, India left groping for options NEW DELHI: India's limited pace-bowling resources are giving the team management and national selectors sleepless nights ahead of the five-match one-day series against England, which begins from October 14. The injury-ravaged Indian team's bowling woes on the recent tour of England - where the team failed to win a single game - have prompted MS Dhoni and Co to seriously mull the idea of falling back on veteran left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra. Nehra, too, has blown hot and cold on the fitness front throughout his career and though his current fitness status is satisfactory, it remains to be seen if the selectors veer around to the team management's point of view and pick him against England. The team management, though, believes that with spearhead Zaheer Khan still unavailable, Nehra's experience may come in handy. Nehra's fitness has been an issue with selectors in the past but under the circumstances, the team management says it has little option. "Nehra's name will be considered. The team needs experienced hands," a team source told TOI on Sunday. The selectors, however, may look beyond the likes of Zaheer and Nehra and give upcoming bowlers the opportunity now. So names like Varun Aaron - who was not given an opportunity in England - and Umesh Yadav (if fit) are already doing the rounds. Keeping the upcoming Australia tour in mind, the selectors may be tempted to rest Ishant Sharma and S Sreesanth. It is learnt that reputations may go for a toss when the selectors meet during the Irani Trophy match. Munaf Patel is certain to miss more than three months of international cricket due to the ankle fracture he suffered during the Cardiff ODI and so Praveen Kumar remains the only certainty for the upcoming series. Munaf is on crutches and didn't travel back home with the team from England. His availability for the Australia series is also in doubt. However, there's good news for India on the batting front. Regular openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir may be fit for selection. With some of youngsters like opener Parthiv Patel and Ajinkya Rahane performing well in England, there may not be many new faces in the batting lineup. Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh, though, have yet to officially confirm their availability. Manoj Tiwary could also fancy his chances of making the cut in place of the injured Mumbai batsman Rohit Sharma. In the spin department, a fit Harbhajan Singh is back in contention because of his remarkable record at home, though it's still not clear whether he will walk into the team. The other four spinners in contention are R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Pragyan Ojha and Rahul Sharma. Out of these five, only three are expected to make the cut.

This ain't true , that is what is frustrating, we have players who are not being given chances either thru selection or by captain, players that are being tried are not even fit or dont have the class yet maybe like Beadykat who bowls at 125 then with his beady eyes stares at the batsmen , Mithunda who bowled upto 145 in ipl but bowls 125 k in test's lol , good thing atleast he can't loose pace from there. Left armer RP bowling at 125k was selected ahead of a pacer who has bowled at 145k on average this season peaking at 153.4 whats wrong here guys, pretty clear.

Indian squad for ODIs against England to be picked on Sep 29

The Indian squad for next month's first two One-Day Internationals against the visiting England side would be picked in Chennai on Thursday, according to Cricket Board sources. ŵhe team for the first two ODIs against England will be selected at Chennai on September 29, said sources from BCCI. The selectors will also choose the three teams -India Red, Indian Blue and India Green - to take part in the N K P Salve Challenger Series in Nagpur from October 10-13, the sources added. The first two India-England ODIs are to be held in Hyderabad (October 14) and Delhi (October 17). The squad for the remaining three ODIs is likely to be picked at the conclusion of the first two matches. The remaining ties are to be held at Mohali (October 20), Mumbai (October 23) and Kolkata (October 25). England are also scheduled to play a one-off T20 International against India in Kolkata on October 29 before departing home.
http://www.expressindia.com/latest-news/Indian-squad-for-ODIs-against-England-to-be-picked-on-Sep-29/851912/ Wonder what's the hurry in picking the team so early. Could easily have waited for the Irani Trophy to end before announcing the squad. Another key qestion is will the BCCI ask the likes of Yuvraj, Sehwag, Sachin (if he is to be included) to go for a fitness test before the squad is chosen?
