Jadeja is actually a good odi player.

Jadeja is a useless batsman everywhere and can be a useful ODI bowler on subcontinent like tracks. The next CT and WC are being played in England, Australia/New Zealand where Jadeja will be hammered like he was in the CB series. It's a waste of time investing in him with any major tournament in mind. Yeah, he can useful in securing some bilateral series wins in the subcontinent, but nothing more than that.

Decent ER? 5.3 in the middle overs is decent on those tracks when you are not picking up any wickets? He was trash in the CB series, not okay. WTF is Jadeja going to do on Perth like tracks in batting or bowling?[/quote'] he wasnt picking up wickets yes,but he wasnt hammered at all as you r pointing out.the ER is skewed heavily by one rain-shortened game v Oz where every spinner was hammered.otherwise,his worst performance as 0/58.even that is under 6 RPO.anyway it was his first Aus tour n many spinners hv struggled.he also stuck around at same Perth wicket with Ashwin to win us a tight game v SL wen we need someone to stick around hes young,will develop both his bowling n batting.not the one to write off imo

Look no one is saying he is amazing. But we need an all rounder to balance the odi team, he is our best option. He is certainly not indespensable and has a lot to prove. Lets hope someone arises to challenge that 5th bowler/batsman role 2 good games in a row, doing ok.

Well in forthcoming away tours we will see if he has improved. But needs a chance as best option at the moment

Pathan is the best all round option at the moment, yeah he is injured but from WC 2015 point of view there is absolutely no point wasting time in Jadeja. Keep him for subcontinental pitches as the 5th bowler if you have to, but you are fooling yourself if you think his darts are going to be any more effective than Yuvraj's away from home. And his batting is very mediocre. I would much rather invest time in Bhuvaneshwar Kumar as the fifth bowler and give him more opportunities with the bat than Jadeja given the future schedule of important ODIs.

Ashwin can't hit out, so it makes sense to send him ahead given that there were tons of overs left. In case he and Dhoni could build a partnership, Jadeja could come in and provide some acceleration later. Not the worst of moves from Dhoni.
