ganeshran
Some surprising selections there. Bhargav Bhatt, Unadkat where are they after doing well in the EPT? How has Jalaj Saxena, who didn't even score a 100 in the last season and scored 332 runs@41 got into the side? Good to see Rahul Sharma and Suyal there. Means the selectors see some potential in them. Hopefulyy Suyal is fit and gets to play the match. My 11 - Mukund, Rahane, Dhawan, Manish Pandey, Mandeep, Parthiv, Rahul Sharma, Ojha, Aaron, Umesh Yadav, Suyal Bhargav Bhatt and Ojha are similar bowlers. Rahul Sharma is a leg spinner as well. I guess thats why Bhatt lost out. Jalaj Saxena's selection, however reeks of nepotism. He has no special record in either batting or bowing in domestic. Link to comment

MCcricket
ROI team has been declared, looks good in terms of giving a chance to players with potential especially bowlers, only unknow Jalaj Saxena?,hopfully Duncan Fletcher will be there to see what we have in terms of domestic talent specially bolwers we can keep an eye on for higher honours, also with Pankaj Singh and Chahar who will be playing in Raj TEAM. MCcricket
Looks pretty good , except for one name I havent seen or heard about , maybe we will find out ,hopefully Jalaj better be good or most probably will not be in the playing 11 also hopfully it is a sporting track that will help bowlers and batsmen at different stage. I want to closely watch Jaggi , HE DOES HAVE ALOT OF CONFIDENCE, RAHUL SHARMA also one I want to watch closely besides the pacers.Hopefully from here the performers or talented players are groomed or selected and given a try in the future outside Dhoni's circle. Malcolm Merlyn
If they play Jadeja then they may play 3 fast bowlers and we may see Suyal Yadav and Aaron all together....... Any Idea how the Jaipur pitch will be....... Link to comment

Feed
RoI team: selection panel caught napping More... RoI team: selection panel caught napping NEW DELHI, September 24, 2011 The newly-constituted National selection committee was caught napping twice on Friday even as it announced the Rest of India team for the Irani Cup match against Rajasthan at Jaipur from Oct. 1 to 5. The selectors initially picked a fit player (Ishank Jaggi) and then declared him unfit. Surprisingly they picked a player (Pawan Suyal) who actually happened to be unfit. Within minutes of announcing his name, the selectors replaced Jaggi with Karnataka batsman C.M. Gautam even as the Jharkhand youngster was busy training with the State's Ranji Trophy probables in Jamshedpur. Jaggi, a 22-year-old leg-spinner from Jharkhand, was reportedly declared unfit on the basis of a report submitted by the Board's physiotherapist. Two months ago Patel is learnt to have recommended a surgery for a foot injury to Jaggi, who, however, was advised by orthopaedic Dr. Anant Joshi against any such treatment. The other injured player to find a place in the team, Delhi left-arm seamer Suyal, is recovering from an ankle surgery. Suyal incidentally had informed Delhi selection committee chairman Chetan Chauhan of his surgery (performed in London) but the National selectors had no clue about it. The team: Parthiv Patel (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan (vice-captain), Abhinav Mukund, Ajinkya Rahane, Manish Pandey, Ravindra Jadeja, Mandeep Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Rahul Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron, Prasanth Parameswaran, Jalaj Saxena and C. M. Gautam. Link to comment
rkt.india
Jalaj Saxena??? Who is he and what he has done to be named in this team? Though, I should not be complaining for player from my state being selected :winky:, but there should be some semblance of logic!! He is an attacking batsmen and I think he can be good for limited overs but for test or FC. Link to comment
