Do you know if he still holds the record for the fastest 50 (batting)?
Edit : yes , he still holds that record. Mendis has broken fastest 50 wickets record - 19 ODIs.

You are wrong there. He has won India a lot of games as well. Mostly, in matches that India lost, all bowlers contributed equally..Its a matter of perception. He was vastly underrrated..and could have been managed better
A player who plays these many games is bound to perform every now and then, thats why I said he had the ability but he was massively inconsistent. And this man was a choker as well, you give him a pressure situation to bowl and he will most certainly mess it up for the team.I have seen that on numerous occassions. And saneindian that stats you gave about his bowling were missing a very important stat in context of ODI cricket i.e the econmy rate, and I am sure he would be having the worst ER among all the bowlers you mentioned.

You say a player who has played that many games is bound to perform well in a few, similarly he can perform badly too having played as many games as he did. the fact is, we fans remember all his bad performances overlooking the great performances he has given. Look at his average and strike rate, its magnificent in LOI cricket. Yes his economy is on the higher side, so what? He is a genuine wicket taking bowler, I would prefer a bowler who can get me wickets and go for runs rather than a bowler who just bowls defensively. I'd take a bowler go for 65 and take 3 wickets rather than a 0/50 kind of a bowling figure. Oh wait, here in our side right now we have bowlers who could give away 60-70 runs easily without inflicting any sort of damage, VK, PK, RP, Munna  Sir Aggy is faaaaaaaaar better than them at least :(( And just out of curiosity can you tell me how many games he has lost us? I am pretty sure I can outnumber you on that with his glorious bowling performances which has won us games :--D

Hmm..its just not now and then. Hes performed many many times..esp early on.. His economy rate is 5:07 as compared to zaheers 4:92 ..hardly any difference. In any case statistics tell the truth and by that hes in the top 4 bowlers India has produced.

I said inconsistent that itself means his bad days came more often than his good days. Please dont start that "attacking genuine wicket taking bowler" debate,if thats the case, then might as well include Sree in the ODI team as you wont find (supposedly) more attacking phasst bowler than him playing for India. I dont have to dig up cricinfo scorecards to prove he was a mental midget who knew no where to hide when the batsmen went after him in pressure situations.

So Vinay Kumar, Munaf, RP and PK bowl 145k toe crushers as their response when the batsman go hammer and tongs in the later half of the innings :hmmm: Oh wait, they finish the game off wayyyyy before the game can get close :cantstop:

First of all I am not trying to prove if Agarkar is worse or better than RP or VK,which is what this thread is all about. But I am just trying to say Agarkar was an inconsistent performer on whom you cant rely on.

Give me a guy who takes 2-3 wickets on a regular basis than the one who picks 1/50 or 0/40 regularly. Aggy's ER is 5.07 and should be looked at in combination with his SR and avg. As for your comment about AB performing every now and then, well among the Indian bowlers, he has the most number of 4 wickets or more hauls - 12. Took 3 wickets or more in 38 ODIs, again maximum for an Indian bowler.

During main part of Agarkar's career 270 was considered as winning score in ODIs. Zaheer's case isn't same. Difference between two bowlers in terms of economy is much more than what 0.15 suggests. Agarkar was always considered wicket taking strike bowler who used to give away lot of runs.

Agarkar was way better than RP singh,Praveen kumar, munaaf patel, vinay kumar, irfan pathan,Sreesanth,Ishant Sharma and company....he had decent pace and a good yorker...he could also reverse swing the ball.....he was treated unfairly by selectors...that was obvious...most of the BCCI selectors were and still are jealous of Mumbai cricketers and Mumbai cricket..also some captains(Bishen singh Bedi,Kapil Dev,etc.)from North India hated Mumbai cricketers....they have ruined the careers of many Mumbai lads.....Padmakar Shivalkar,Raju Kulkarni,Amol Mujumdar,Sulakshan Kulkarni,Vinod Kambli,Ramesh Powar,etc......they all were decent players than some of the nuts who played for India.....could have represented India for long time...but were hardly given any chance...and if they played for India, they played few matches and were dropped....Shame on BCCI's dirty selection policy

well.....with so much cricket being played and dhoni reluctant to give young bowlers a chance, selectors should seriously think of bringing this guy back. He has atleast 2 to 3 years of cricket left in him. He might not do wonders but atleast save disastrous tours like England. How many times we have seen 5 good deliveries from Aggi followed by a real loose bowl. I hope with all his experience in Ranji from last 5 to 6 years would have fixed that. If that happens he could be a more than handy bowlers. More importantly, with zaheer being injured, there is no one to guide the youngsters. He could play a crucial role in this aspect. Also, with his batting and fielding abilities he should be considered.

Yes RSee with an average of 33.44 and an outstanding economy rate of 6.07 is a wicket taker :hail: There is a world of difference in showing your aggression with the looks and showing it with the ball in hand. Sir Aggy used to spray a few here and there, but on the whole, he always took wickets and put pressure on the batsman. Again, give me a few games where he had single handedly lost us the game? I am sure his performances weren't all that bad for him to stay out for sooooooo long :((
