WC2011INDIA Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 steyn is incredible. easily one of the greatest bowlers ever. batsmen have to be on top of their game to survive against him, let alone score off him. i will never forget the duel between tendulkar-gambhir and steyn-morkel at cape town last year. its the best cricket i have ever seen. Only to be topped by the duel with VVS at Durban in the same series on a pitch where none of the players from either side could get to a fifty in the four combined innings and VVS scored that game winning 96 that helped us draw the series 1-1. That is what our batsmen score to get warmed up for test cricket. :headshake: 5000 is the amount of test runs Sachin has scored without a helmet. :headshake: 5000 is the amount of test runs Ganguly has scored hooking and pulling :headshake; 5000 is the amount of test runs Dravid has scored playing just the switch-hit. 5000 is still less than the amount of runs Azhar scored, despite the fact that he sold all of his innings to the highest bidder. :headshake:

Probably 500 test matches will get Yuseless to the figure, but the hero worshiping of smacking 6 sixes will continue in our society.

I think he is a decent player who on his day can turn the match on its head. His 169 under difficult circumstances show that he has it in him to play in the white jersey. He is way better than somebody like a Raina. Let us take into account the number of injuries he has had that kept him in and out of the side. And its not that Clarke didn't have a rough patch in his career. Unlike Yuvraj, Clarke was persisted with even in the tough times. I know that technically Yuvi is not all that great, but I am sure he can only get better from hereon now that he is fit and rearing to go. Both the dismissals in this Test were soft dismissals and you can almost sense how gutted he was after getting out. Let us give him one final chance. P.S : Even Dravid was persisted with post 07-09 where he suffered a huge low. I am not comparing the two and I even admit there there is a huge gulf between the two but just stating that if we trust me as a wonderful ODI player, why can't we give him a few more chances, may be he can turn it around this time. And we need an experienced middle order once the Legends retire, and I can see Yuvi in there, so if we do not persist with him fir some time, how is he gonna get confidence in himself? But yes I do admit that another failure in this series would be curtains to his Test career (temporarily)

His 500th dismissal was that of Phillip Hughes who was caught behind off the bowling of Test debutant Vernon Philander. Two of Boucher's catches behind the stumps came against Australia when he represented the ICC World XI in October 2005 and the remaining 498 were for his country. Playing in his 140th Test, Boucher made his debut in 1997 against Pakistan and played 75 consecutive Tests before being dropped for the tour to India in 2004. It was not long before he was back in the side, facing England, at home, in January 2005 and his renewed vigour has extended his career and helped him earn the accolade.

He certainly has the potential.

He certainly has the potential. Do you understand what you mean by this? Indirectly you are saying Test cricket = ODI cricket. Yuvi was persisted in ODIIs because he was a matchwinner from day 1 which hasnt been the case with Yuvi the test player.
