It's just like providing opportunities to the team. It doesn't mean that team will do miracles just by addition of tour games. Team will have to ensure they actually utilize these tour matches.

India are currently scheduled to play only one four-day tour game, against the CA Chairman's XI in Canberra, from December 18. "We are considering the request and it is work in progress," a CA spokesperson said. "You've got to understand that scheduling is a three-dimensional exercise and it is always difficult to make any changes once things are finalised. But we have always had cordial relations with the BCCI and we should be able to find a way." The main problem for CA, which had announced its schedule for the 2011-12 home season three days ago, is likely to be the Big Bash League. Australia's domestic Twenty20 competition starts on December 16 and, with players from all six Australian states participating in the eight-team competition, India may have to play a second-string side for the extra warm-up. India's request comes on the back of a humiliating defeat in the ongoing Test series in England. They trail 0-3 in the series and are in danger of suffering their first 0-4 loss since then tour of Australia in 1991-92, There has been sharp criticism of the team's preparation for the series, in which the No. 1 Test ranking was at stake, from within the BCCI and the media. MS Dhoni, the India captain, and Duncan Fletcher, the coach, have indirectly admitted that one reason India were struggling in English conditions was because they did not have enough to acclimatise. The late request to CA for an additional warm-up is another example of the lack of planning in the BCCI. Before the 2010-11 tour of South Africa, Gary Kirsten, who was coach at the time, had to press his case to ensure some of the Test players arrived a few weeks early to prepare for the series. Kirsten had sent his request about eight months ahead of the tour but the BCCI granted him permission only at the very last minute.

I wonder if their is anybody in the BCCI planning commettee who have even have a pea size brain in their head....or is that everybody in BCCI always thinking abt new ways to make millions.

Probably the best chance India can ever get to win a series down under, cuz it'll be last time I think we'll have Sachin, Dravid and Laxman playing.

U know what I mean. The team have to show hunger....& dedication.....& will to win Test matches. Not just about IPL & CL.

India has been in England for over a good one month and still are struggling. What I see is lack of game plan more than just lack of preparation. Despite being in England for this long India have not scored over 300 runs in any inning. Barely bowled England out cheaply under favorable conditions for bowling. I suppose the underlying message is England is far too good for India in England. Given this series is taking place late in the season England bowlers and the batsmen have been in touch longer than say the Indians but India did bugger all in West Indies as well with the bat. There's no easy fix for this, India lacks quality that is the bottom line.

Sachinism Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 India to play two tour matches in Australia India will play two warm-up matches ahead of the first Test of their tour of Australia later this year, the BCCI and Cricket Australia [CA] have announced. Both games will be played in Canberra, leading up to the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. The first warm-up game will be a two-day match against a CA Chairman's XI starting on December 15 at the Manuka Oval, while the second will be a three-day game from December 19 at the same venue, against the same opposition. In August, the BCCI had asked CA for an additional warm-up game during the tour. Previously, India were scheduled to play a four-day tour game from December 18. The request was made in the aftermath of the disastrous tour of England - following India's 0-4 whitewash, severe criticism was directed towards the Indian board with regards to the team's preparation. India play four Tests and two Twenty20s against Australia, followed by a tri-series that also includes Sri Lanka. The tour two matches will be a part of the inaugural 'Festival of Cricket' in Canberra, which will run from December 4 to 21.
