MCcricket Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 I think the biggest gain for India in the Challenger trophy might be the selection of Irfan , all reports also from T A SEKAR AND E SIMMONS SUGGEST HE IS ON HIS WAY BACK,sHIKHAR dHAWAN LOOKS LIKELY TOO MAKE AN IMPACT , ALSO LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING p pARMESWARAM , kRISHNAAARTY, PANKAJ SINGH, sANGWAN PERFORM,ALSO JAGGI SEEMS TO HAVE A LOT OF CONFIDENCE IN HIS ABILITY. Paul Valthaty and Ambatti Rayudu have been given a chance, one mystery bowler I am hoping to see is Sanuth , Rahul Shukla perform this year Dinda and Gony deserved a chance me thinks instead of Ishwar or mithun some other selections.
MCcricket Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 Umesh is not in those squads. Umesh is not in the squad nor Varun , hmm, why not? although I saw Sangwan bowl in one of the games couple of weeks back and he looks much more improved lets see what he does.I think Irfan will be back , hopefully he gets support from Dhoni and selectors as he deserves it, hardworking , talented, good temperament, India cannot afford to waste his talent.
saneindian Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Pathan was well on his comeback trail in the 2009-10 season. Had done decently, 31 wickets@21 and 500 runs@39, another good season and he would have been back. But then he suffered the back injury which kept him out of the last domestic season, made his comeback in the IPL and towards the end , looked like getting some of his late swing back. This Challenger series is a huge opportunity for him especially when there are so many bowlers out injured. A couple of good performances and he could even be back during the Eng series itself, being one of the very few left arm seamers in the country. Another thing that may work in his favour is Jimmy paaji as a selector. Has always talked highly of Irfan and in his columns has emphasized how crucial Irfan is to India's future.

I do not want to be a Dhoni basher, I seriously doubt his ability to support or groom bowlers, if Irfan will be given 7-2 fields, and not given the new ball , I hope he makes a comeback when Dhoni is resting coz I do not believe Dhoni is a good bowlers captain also think he does'nt want Irfan and a few other players in his team.Looking at CSK , INDIAN TEAM ,dHONI has only played his players ,Zaheer , bhajji, Mishra, CSK team does'nt even play an Indian seamer, surprisingly unadkat , vk were played ahead of umesh or varun , even Irfan never got his support. He relies too heavily on our batters, bowlers are just seen as a defensive option , bowlers rather bowl flat and not go for runs rather then try for wickets and pacers bowl line and lenght rather then be aggressive is his lookout , one cannot win games just on batting, he has a serious flaw in terms of his thought process, only bowlers he trust's are Zaheer, Nehra, RP Singh, MISHRA, V KUMAR, P KUMAR, BHAJJI HAS BEEN DEFENSIVE ALSO.HE LOVES TRUNDLERS AND DART THROWERS THEN BOWLERS WHO WANNA BUY WICKETS OR OR BOWL AGGREESSIVELY AND MAKE AN IMPACT.dINDA, gONY, Pathan, S TYAGI, VRV, UMESH , VARUN, OJHA WERENT PREFERRED AND WE HAD UNADKAT, VK , PK , J SHARMA, RP , jADEJA PLAY PER dHONI.dHONI SHOULD TAKE A LEAF FROM gANGULY AND pATAUDI'S BOOK AND SEE HOW THEY GROOMED THE TEAM AND BOTH USED SPINNERS AND IN gANGULY PACERS ALSO AS WEAPONS, REALIZED THE TALENTED BOWLERS NEEDED TO BE SUPPORTED AND HAVE A VISION.Then he rues the lack of fast bowling options and demeans and calls our bowlers as medium pacers who are no where comparable to Eng or SA, IT IS BECAUSE OF HIS AFFINITY TO THESE TRUNDLERS.

deathmonger Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Umesh is not in those squads. Since he and Varun are in ODI squad, I guess.
podi wije Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 problem is what you expecting from.he lost his all pace and struggling to even touch mid 120s with the bowl.and he is not a batting all rounder any means.
MCcricket Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 U will see him bowl in 130 's also he has better technique then say Raina also can play defensive and aggressive.

Number Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I hope so , he was the most gifted swing bowler we had. There was an interview of Eric Simmons where he mentioned about Irfan regaining his strengths. http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/irfan-pathan-virender-sehwag-bowling-coach-eric-simons/1/153348.html

King Tendulkar Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 So crapthan is oor salvation. What next demands for Kaif to be back? The mind boggles
saneindian Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 So crapthan is oor salvation. What next demands for Kaif to be back? The mind boggles You mean the likes of Vinay Kumar, Aravind, RPS etc are as good a bowling option as Raina, Rohit, Rahane or Pujara as batting options for Kaif? If yes, please create a thread saluting those new bowlers as well like you have for Rohit and Pujara :winky: BTW, let me ask you a question if you will please, given a choice between Irfan and Nehra, whom would you pick and why?

Nehra because he is not as selfish as that Irfan guy..Both have been crap interms of performance lately..

Though Irfan as a specialist bowler may be as good as Vinay, Arvind, or RPS, but as an overall alround package, he is much better in ODIs and T20s. He can easily contribute in more than one stream.
