achilles Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Its a minor world sport' date= played by a handful of people, pointing to some Indian volleyball player as some kind of great athlete is clutching at straws. So may I know why England considers Rugby to be a major sport?
Cricket_Fan Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Its a minor world sport' date= played by a handful of people, pointing to some Indian volleyball player as some kind of great athlete is clutching at straws. Says who, a disgruntled Paki in an English disguise?:hysterical: Volleyball is an Olympic sport popular in Asia,Europe,North and South Americas. FIVB, the global governing body has 220 member nations which is even more than FIFA! ICFers have been long suspecting you to be a Paki, but now your this comment proved it:haha: Only a Paki can make such a retarded statement, at the max a UK-born Paki(same blood you know!):finger:
ganeshran Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Serani is trolling again, dont let him wind you guys up :giggle:
ganeshran Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 What I am saying who knows,May be ,means unless someone do proper research on this subject then only one can reach the conclusion. As far fast bowling is concerned we all know we are The world power in cricket with MRF pace academy ,foreign coaches coming teaching players yet in the 64 years we have only produced two world class fast bowlers Srinath and Zaheer We were never known for our pace bowling. Our strength was always spin bowling. It is the system which is at fault by not incentivising pace as a selection criteria. The mantra is to contain and accurate bowling does that much effectively than raw pace. That is why we keep producing trundlers and even the fast ones eventually become trundlers. Its not a genetic or physical problem, rather the problem with fast bowling being encourages and more pitches being produced which are conducive to it
Serani Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Wont it be sad when the only genuine non paki foreign fan leaves the forum because he gets sick and tired of being called a paki.
nikred Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Wont it be sad when the only genuine non paki foreign fan leaves the forum because he gets sick and tired of being called a paki. emosinal blackmale.
MCcricket Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I'm sorry to break your bubble bro' date=' but actually ppl from[b'] SOUTH are ahead in many physical sports like Athletics, Football, Volleyball,Basketball etc. If you follow my post I said different traits, not that they aren't good runners or other sports, do not assume things, but generally southern people do not have a big or strong bone structure, they are more into volleyball, athletics but not even anywhere close to world class, but that could be because we do not have the level of coaching in track and field and nor do we have BALCO LOL
Silva Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Pakistan has a alot of ethnic afghanis as well. So they are pretty different than most indians racially. Punjabis and afghanis are considerably taller than other sough asian people. 55 percent of pakistanis are punjabi and 10 percent pashtun where as Indians are less than 10 punjabi and the pashtun community is too small to even mention. But that doesn't mean their can't be exeptions to the rule expecially with over a billion people. Indians on average being too short is only one of many reasons India can't produce fast bowlers.
IKnowU Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 It starts from the grass roots............keeping feeding the kids with sweets, biryanis and ladoos....you will get ladoos when they grow up :giggle: Compare the average lifestyle between a Australian kid and a Indian kid. The advantage the Australian kid has just by doing basic things like decent diet, physical activity and right training methods gives them a massive advantage already.
panesarv Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 ^ WTF...australian kids end up eating burgers and fries and pizza.... decent diet, physical activity and right training methods are you listening to yourself :|

I am sure lot of youngsters idolised Kapil in 80s yet we have not seen the same lot of youngsters becoming like Kapil dev . We have now coaches like pollock and Akram training youths for their IPL teams so many other coaches Giving training to fast bowlers yet we are at the lowest point of time in cricket in term of fast or even fast medium bowlers.
vvvslaxman Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Its a minor world sport' date=' played by a handful of people, pointing to some Indian volleyball player as some kind of great athlete is clutching at straws.[/quote'] Fast bowling requires some physical attributes. Having said that don't put cricket on a pedestal. It is a game designed for some of the most unfit human beings. I bet Ranatunga would not be picked by any volley ball team in the world. Ramesh powar, Mustaq ahmed, Duleep Mendis, David boon.... and scores of totally unfit, fat slobs can play only cricket no other sports. Take a look at this guy.. Enough said
Trundler27 Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Zak's comment has opened a can of worms. However, I agree with his assessment. Indian bodies are clearly not made for fast bowling and the proof is in our cricket history. We have not produced genuine pacers with the consistency of most other test nations over the past 50 years. Even NZ has more notable quick bowlers (geoff allott, bond, hadlee, morrison, etc) even though it's a tiny island nation. However, I don't care about this shortcoming because all we need is that 1 or 2 in a million talent that can carry us through. Just like we have found Zak, Srinath, Kapil Dev in the past, i'm sure we will unearth someone worthwhile to carry our pace attack in the future. Our strength in numbers will eventually help us find sufficient number of quicks to keep the flame burning. I just hope the selectors and team mgmt give those ppl an opportunity when they are discovered.

Enough said take a look at gayle, tremlett and pretty much every modern cricketer not from asia. They are all stacked. Maybe in a few hundred years time asian players might actually get in a gym and take there job seriously rather than relying on natural talent.

Fast bowling is lot of hard work as he said. I cannot think of a moment in Indian cricket history where a batsman is trembling at the sight of an Indian bowler. Ishant is bowling with pace at times. But when he bowls bouncers it is so lame. Without any effort he just puts the ball half the pitch. Pretty much all Indian fast bowlers apart from Zaheer don't have decent bouncer.
MCcricket Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 take a look at gayle' date=' tremlett and pretty much every modern cricketer not from asia. They are all stacked. vvvslaxman Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 take a look at gayle' date=' tremlett and pretty much every modern cricketer not from asia. They are all stacked. Maybe in a few hundred years time asian players might actually get in a gym and take there job seriously rather than relying on natural talent.[/quote'] no offence.. Tremlett averaged 79 mph in the test he played. He is built like a brick. But he is just above military medium. He relies more on bounce he extracts. Bad example. Broad in comparison looks lot weaker but bowls much faster. Arm speed, stamina, some strength and lot of flexibility is required to be a successful fast bowler. You need to be lean and mean to be a successful fast bowler. Steyn, Donald, Holding are not really hulks.

If pak is so athletic and powerful nation, then it should have won so many medals in world athletic championships. Pak is almost zero in this regard.
