Number
he should try to keep it wicket to wicket , will not get any help from wicket. Awful track for pacers. there were cracks even before the start of the game. Link to comment
saneindian
Could well have bowled the fastest delivery by an Indian pacer in a test match. With some control which he will gradually learn, he will be a very good bowler. The spell post tea with some massive reverse swing showed us some of his skill. deserved a wicket or two in that spell. He's highly wayward. The only good thing I found was that his pace dd not drop at all. apart from that, I seriously did not find anything impressive. Maybe he was nervous on his debut. Manny_Pacquiao
bowls the wrong lines too often. he is still better than sreesanth, RP and some of the other failures india have had in the past. Link to comment
deathmonger
does any one who follows the domestic scene confirm if umesh is as wayward in FC cricket. Link to comment
Pagalpanti
Yeah he is a bit wayward but he improved a lot in his successive spells though, the more he plays the better he gets. Just liked how he didn't reduce the pace as the day went on, was full steam everytime he was brought in. In fact he clocked his highest speed during latter half of the day. Link to comment
rahulrulezz
Amazing amazing bowling..for the first time I actually enjoyed watching each and every ball from an Indian pacer in ODIs and Test matches!! This guy will go far Link to comment
saneindian
does any one who follows the domestic scene confirm if umesh is as wayward in FC cricket. Nope, he isn't. But then he hasn't bowled at those speeds consistently in first class cricket. Control will naturally come as he plays more and starts getting wickets. Hope he doesn't drop his pace. Link to comment
Pagalpanti
he was getting reverse and in fact got quicker, consistently went over 145. Link to comment

Malcolm Merlyn
When was the last time we saw an Indian bowler bowling at 140+ consistently throughout the day in a test match in India???????Never...................Never....................Never...........he is 23.....give him time.....he will develop well..........was reversing at pace..... zep1706
We need to stick with this guy and also be careful managing him. With the kind of bowling he has, he will an asset in Australia. Just need a bit more control, but that will come with experience and practice. Link to comment
asterix
Proper bowling strategy required..Whimsically bringing him and removing him from the attack, giving only 4 or 3 overs spells at various stages, not only doesn't allows the bowler to settle down, it also allows opposition new batsmen to settle down and make a big score. No matter what you do later, bringing the same bowler and give him bit longer spell, the top international batsmen, once settled are difficult to give you any more chances, especially on docile pitches.. Using ODI bowling strategies in Test matches will not work..Could've worked if you have an experienced bowler like Zak in the team.. New bowlers need bit of time and patience to settle down... Looked the most effective in his 3rd spell and hence got extra overs, exactly the way it should be. Link to comment
