Show_stopper Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Wasn't that impressive from my POV. Gun barrel stuff. Was quick pace-wise but not as much as he was hyped to be. Infact he was just a touch slower than Varun. What did you guys make of him?
achilles Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Serani was right. Raina was completely pwned by Meaker's bowling
nsareen Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 He does ball accurately and has a very nice reverse swinging yorker, hurt kohli with one such ball. Cannot judge on the pace, looks strong, these english bowlers ball one day in early 140's then the next day in 150's. So will have to see how he bowls over a set of matches to see the average speed.
Show_stopper Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 Oh so he gets some reverse swing!! I missed the last part of India's batting. That certainly raises my estimate of him.

saneindian Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Was better than Dernbach for sure! A decent action with a good built and a very smooth bowling run up. Wasn't bowling at his quickest. Looks capable of hitting 90 mph consistently.
jairamesh Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 impressive, but everytime he went for the extra mile he lost control and tended to bowl legside gifting easy runs, though a kieswetter dropped a tricky legside caught behind of him.

Infact he was just a touch slower than Varun. What did you guys make of him? HE has an awful OD record. His format is 4-5 day cricket. He has the ability to bowl consistently at 88-92mph, just needs to be in good rhythm. From what I've seen, his wickets tend to come through inswing or reverse swing.
Show_stopper Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 ^ Yes he looks like someone who needs to bowl a few overs before really cranking it up to the speeds that he supposedly bowls at.
rkt.india Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 ^ Yes he looks like someone who needs to bowl a few overs before really cranking it up to the speeds that he supposedly bowls at. No..I have seen him bowling 88-92 mph consistently in ODDs. But he is not always accurate if goes for full pace.
bajrang Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 still young though, wast obnoxious like other England pacers so that's good.
express bowling Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Finn, Aaron and Umesh seems to bowl the 140 k + deliveries more easily. Meaker gave the impression that that he had to put in a lot of effort to bowl 140 k + and lost control and whenever he did not put in extra effort he slipped to 135k to 138k. This guy should be kept in the reckoning and has promise but given England's other bowling options he is not ready yet to be in the first team.
