Who After Dhoni (the Wicket Keeper)

We had totally mediocre wk's for a long long time before dhoni..... iirc the long list of nonsense keepers included nayan mongia' date=' vijay dahiya , sameer dighe :nono:, msk prasad :haha:, saba karim, [b']kiran more, etc. So we should consider ourselves extremely blessed to hv such a genuinely world class wk-batsman for the foreseeable future. We should not start worrying about the wk slot just yet. Let's enjoy this era while we can.
AFAIR, Kiran More wasn't bad as WK. Hid batting was also gutsy and did well most of the time when required. His away test average was 29 while Dhoni's is 34.

++ Also considering the era of 80's and 90's when India was particularly bad in away tours and some of the best bowlers were in action too, it was quite an achievement for a wicket-keeper batsman of that era.

Without sufficient chances, how will these former keepers get a chance to renew everyone's opinions about them? I think Kumar Sangakarra has shown the way. And more than that, in tests, No.6 has always been a dicey place for any replacement. It will help in significantly reducing Dhoni's workload as well. What do you think?
I don't think so. I have been a firm believer that you should not let go off with your primary job. And let's face it, Kumar is a world class batsman. He can fit in any side as a pure batsman and Prasanna Jayawardene is a fine-fine WK. MSD, as a pure batsman in test matches would not fit in. But, when you combine his wicket-keeping with the batting, then at present, there's no one on the horizon.

Stick to Saha, he has a good FC record, and will come good with the bat, atleast in Asian conditions. When PAK played Sarfraz first, he was like a tailender at intl. level despite having a good FC record, but after playing in UAE, he has finally found his feet and is doing well in Asian conditions atleast (still untested overseas) Not a big watcher of the IPL, but I think he has a 100 there too ?

Err Kiran More, Nayan Mongia and Kirmani are the three best wicketkeepers produced by India and as wicketkeepers (not batsmen), they were easily either the best or the top 2 of their era. Wicketkeeping up to the late 90s was very technically challenging and as far as the batting went, you were doing a fine job if you averaged 25-30 zone as a keeper. Gillchrist, Andy Flower and to a lesser extent Dhoni changed the perception but it is very, very rare to find a wicketkeeper who could be treated as a legitimate full-time batsman in any format.
