click on the link in OP and then click on the his name in the bowlers' list in score card.
Thx RKT. He looks very promising and is well built (not skinny like Ishant). Is it me or is his run-up really short?

Not very short, a bit like Zak. Runup is only a matter of comfort for a bowler. Some feel comfortable with long runup, some with short.

Back to reality. :haha: 10 | 62 | 0 | 6.20
Not a bad effort along with one maiden for a very inexperienced bowler if you see he bowled mostly in PPs and score is over 350, more than 7 an over. ODIs may not suit his bowling, IMO, but he can be very handy in tests.

You know what, this is the new reality of odi cricket..... so i'm not a least bit concerned with this performance. If this guy can bowl in the restriction and death overs with this kind of return, then he might as well be in our national team coz this is much better than what some of our national bowlers have done against england in supposedly 'bowler friendly' conditions in the recently concluded series.

Unless cricinfo has got it wrong, he seems to have played just 3 games(none of them being a FC)? I know we're desperate for a good bowler, but do you really think these 3-4 games are enough to say he can be handy?

No it isn't, I wasn't concerned with E/R as much as the wicket column. I don't care if bowlers go for 70 but if they get 3-4 wickets, it helps put pressure on opposition. He did go for 60 of 10, but see how much England scored? To restrict you need to pick up wickets, isn't this the reason why Harbhajan has failed in ODI's for so long now?

He must play FC seasons, but he can be ready very soon as he is very refined and not raw like Aaron or Dhudhat or any other pacer.

But a bowler cannot pick 3-4 wickets in every match. There is not one bowler who does that or has done that in his career. Most bowler has taken less than 2 wickets per match in ODI history. You are talking about 3-4 wickets.

Clearly you didn't get what I was trying to say. I was suggesting picking wickets is more important than being economical. We've seen how teams bat out safely till 30 overs without losing too many wickets and almost double their score then in ODI's. By that I didn't mean he needs to pick 3-4 wickets every match. lol

Thing is wickets are very flat in SC, so teams go defensive rather than attacking because wickets don't offer anything to the bowler. IMO, he is a very good prospect with what I saw of him and he needs to play FC cricrkt fro this season onwards.

Yes sir, he did not pick up wickets today but this is his second match against a top international batting line up on flat bare tracks. Overall returns of 3 wkts in 2 games is a lot better than some of our recent national bowlers have achieved against this same line up in a 5 match odi series!! So I guess the consensus on this particular thread was just to get the guy in the hyderabad ranji squad for further exposure. Don't worry he is not going to replace the uber talented aravind in the indian odi team anytime soon :--D

well, Statistics on a flat pitch with white ball can be really misleading. I wouldn't really look into one performance and judge a player. I have seen him on the video and i think he has all right attributes of becoming a very good bowler provided he has a right attitude. Bounce he is extracting on a flat college pitch is amazing. I would want to see this guy in action on a gabba pitch.

Anwar Ahmed Khan http://www.sportsallways.com/MailScoreCard.aspx?MID=e535b3425fd84be7 He is a left armer, very tall seems like 6'4" to 6" 5" , very good action run up, good bounce ,fast medium, attacking bowler, did take 3 wickets against the visiting Poms.At 25 years of age this guy has serious talent , making the domestic players jump like cat on hot tin roof, this guy should be seriously looked at during this season and if he shows the talent, he should be promoted to play the next level A tours, time is not on his side, selectors should keep an eye on him as he looks by far the most promising bowler, even better then some who have played for India, leagues ahead of RP, Unadkat at their preset form, he should be monitored for fitness and sent to build his strength and fitness to Autralia or England and given some exposure, coz we might have a rough diamond in our hands. PS also look at Firdaus Bhaja's video he looks really good, also very tall , natural action like the WI bowlers, decent pace.

There is a thread existed about him.made by me.
LOL RKT I was kinda thinking that we were talking about him , I couldn't find the thread in search though, anyways this will be one which we can keep an eye on him , I feel this guy should be groomed seriously looked at, seems like one of the stories that a Paki would say picked up from local game by Wasim kinda talent, play A tours, If he is good enough just give him a try.

Good news for Indian bowling unit...Looks like we are finally going to build up a pool of bowlers...ofcourse, depends on our selectors. Now the selectors need to be giving them exposures and matches !
